Competition Format

After roll-call the DT will determine the competition format. This will be announced to the fencers before the pool sheets are drawn up.

All individual competitions will be run with a single ranking round. Fencers will be seeded based on their ranking in the weapon. The size of the pools will be determined by the DT but should favour pools of size 6 if possible (i.e. 2 pools of 6 is preferred to 3 pools of 4). Fencers from the same club in the same pool will be ordered so as to fence fellow club members first.

All open, intermedite and veteran competitions will proceed to a direct elimination round from the first ranking round. This will consist of an elimination of 16 fencers. If no first round bouts would be fenced this can be reduced to an elimination of 8 fencers. If the DT has time constraints an elimination of 8 fencers can be announced at the beginning of the competition. The format cannot be changed once announced. The ranking into the elimination will be based on pool results, where fencers are equal they will be split based on a random element.

Beginner and all junior events will promote until a single pool is fenced.
