FennecTheFox's Strategy Guide
Zerg vs Protoss (On Lost Temple) Strategy #1 Description : Fast Hydras and a Fast kill. Lets say you spawn at either 6 or 9, and your opponent is at one of those locations himself. You send your first Overlord out, and scout his base. If he builds dual 9 Gates, or 9 Gate, 10 Gate, you will want to make Drones 'till 9, produce an Overlord, create an Extractor, build a Drone, and cancel the Extractor for a total of 10/9. Morph your second Hatchery at your natural. This is much quicker than 12Hatch/Pool/2Drones/Expand. His rush, even if he brings Probes along - will do nothing if you have good Zergling control. If you made 12Hatch/Pool/2 Drones/Expand, he has a VERY good chance of doing some damage. He will probably take your Hatchery out. Where you expand depends on your starting location. If you spawn at 12 and 3 and he's at either one of those locations, you will want to build your expansion Hatchery above your ramp, and you may be required to make more Lings than normal to protect both your main and your natural. If you expand below your ramp you risk being rushed out. You will also have to use the Extractor trick build as mentioned above. If you spawn at 9 and 6, you will want to build your expansion Hatchery at your resource node. If you're at 12/3 and your opponent isn't at either of those locations, you would build your expansion Hatchery below your ramp so you can sunken if need be. This is to protect both your natural and your main. If you expand at your resource node first, you are susceptible to a 2 way attack, until your 3rd Hatchery has finished morphing. By then it may be too late. Place 2nd Hatchery like so. This will enable you to morph a Sunken between the two Hatcheries Zealots can only trickle in one at a time past the Hatcheries to reach the Sunken, or they can go around the long way (above your 2nd Hatchery and down towards the Sunken.) If your opponent does this, you can throw your Drones at him, and they will score free hits while the Zealots try to reach the Sunken, unless he individually targets the Drones. With your Lings, and a Sunken placed well, it's hard to break this defence. You can power harder at this starting location better than any other start location on Lost Temple, due to the terrain. When you spawn at 6, you can either place your 3rd Hatchery in your main (nearly side by side with your original Hatchery) to optimize your mining time, or you can place it at your natural to offer better cover.
