This is the proper way to assign your Drones
to the far right mineral patches. As you see, the Drone is not moving
to the right, then up. It is moving to the middle mineral patch, and
then to the far right. It's a much more direct path that speeds your
resource gathering..

It is not hugely significant that you do this,
but you will gain a greater amount of minerals by doing this. Time saving
short cuts such as this, add up and compile into advantages (if you
use them) and disadvantages (if you don't.) Every bit counts.
Now that we have the basics out of the way, here
is the build order.
- Build to a total
of 9 Drones. Make Overlord after your 9th Drone.
- Build 2 Drones
- Take Drone to expand
and morph a Hatchery.
- Pool
- Build 2 Drones
- Make a 3rd Hatchery
- Produce 4 sets
of Lings
- Build a Drone
- Build an Overlord
- Extractor
- 2 Drones
- 2 Drones
- Make a Hydralisk
Den as soon as you have 50 Vespene saved up.
Build Drones until you have a total of 7 on Minerals
at your main, and 7 mining minerals at your natural. A total of 3 Drones
is required to harvest Vespene. Build more Lings if necessary. Remember,
you need no more than 7 Drones at your Expand and 10 in your main. If
you power harder than this, it gives your opponent a greater amount
of time to figure out what you're doing and prepare for the incoming
offensive.
A few tips of advice when using this strategy.
- This is a one shot deal strategy, unless your
opponent is absolutely hopeless. This build will place you behind
in resources a considerable amount. It will give you a quick win if
you execute it properly. If you rematch with the same races, I do
not recommend that you use this strategy a second time however, as
it will be easy for your opponent to counter.
- Only upgrade Hydralisk speed. you will not
have the Vespene count to upgrade Range. If you do upgrade range,
you would have missed out on producing 6 Hydras, and this alone could
cost you the game.
- This is a micro intensive strategy, so when
you use your Hydralisks, you will have to micro vs Zealots. Try to
not lose any Hydras foolishly. A severly damaged Hydra is better than
no Hydra. You can always stack the damaged Hydra at the back of the
brood.
Things to look out for.
- If the Protoss player plans on going Zealots
into Templar, he will not have Templar in time. It becomes a lot more
difficult when the Protoss player has speed upgrade for his Zealots,
so try to kill him before that factor comes into play.
- If you see a Zealot/Dragoon/Reaver build,
and the Protoss player is relying more so on Zealots than Dragoons,
you can force your way up his ramp with your Hydras/Lings before he
obtains any Reavers.
- Counters the Protoss 'Sair/DT/Expand strategy
perfectly.
- Counters early game expanding Protoss (If
they don't use Cannons.)
Ways in which to counter this strategy.
- Cannons either at the Protoss expansion or
above their ramp. The Protoss player will require at least 2 Cannons
and constant Zealot production. If you see your opponent placing Cannons
you had better make a mad dash to attack before they finish warping
in.
- Zealots into Dragoons also nullify this strategy.
(As long as he keeps above the ramp with his Zealots/Dragoons and
out resources you.)
So far these are the only two strategies i've
come in contact with that counter this strategy effecively.
