Once the course was laid in for L2, Duo unfastened his seat harness and floated over to Heero. His mouth was quirked in a slight smile. He sat lightly on the Japanese boy's lap, and began touching him... all over.
"Where is it, Hee-chan?" he said, and Heero realized he was being frisked.
"Where's what?" Heero asked after a moment or two.
"Whatever the old goat sent you," Duo answered, sliding his hands into pants pockets, waistband, hip pockets...
Heero moved slightly forward and lifted his hips. "Little further down," he said, not minding the body search at all.
Duo's eyebrows rose and his grin widened and he plunged his hand down into private places. "Ah ha!" he crowed, and pulled out the small communicator that Heero had received from Professor G.
"When were you gonna tell me about this?" he said, slanting a look down at his lover.
"Hn," Heero remarked, looking into the violet eyes. "Seeing as how you found it on me, and that was fun, probably not for a long time. He sent it to me."
"I know," Duo said. "I always check the recordings from the front security cam whenever I leave the house."
He examined the little communicator closely. Then he made a small snorting sound. He produced a couple of small tools from somewhere about his person and began working on the device, using Heero's chest as a worktable. "As I figured... this thing has a tracking signal in it. So the Prof knows every move we have made since you got it. Might even have a limited range bug - could have been broadcasting our conversations back to em. Heero, I know you're the Perfect Soldier, but *don't* take gifts from the Prof without checking them..."
Heero said nothing, but an eyebrow arched as he looked back at his lover. He thought for a moment, then nodded as he settled his arms around Duo's waist.
Duo's tongue stuck out a little as he concentrated on the device. After some minutes of concentrated effort, he nodded to himself, then frowned, then grinned.
"Got it!" he said happily. Then he swiveled on Heero's lap and punched a set of coordinates into the navigation computer. He did a couple of other things to the small device, then closed it up and stuck it back in Heero's pocket, taking the opportunity to grope his lover thoroughly in the process.
Heero took several deep breaths, then looked up at Duo. "So, what did you do and where are we off to now?" he asked.
Duo smirked. "I just reversed the tracking setting. Should take us right to the Prof."
"Hn," Heero remarked. "ETA?"
"Coupla hours, maybe three at tops," Duo answered.
Heero nodded. "How are we doing so far?" he asked, stroking the curve of Duo's rear.
Duo looked down at his lover with a slight, somewhat enigmatic smile. "You first," he said. "How you do think we're doing?"
Heero sighed. "I think that it's going well, so far," he said, then reached up and stroked Duo's cheek with his fingertips. "All of this, the shuttle I mean, doesn't seem to bug you too much. I'm glad. In a strange way, this has been a good thing for me. I'm still working out a few things, but I think it's going to be okay."
Duo shifted a little, leaning against Heero's chest comfortably. "What are you working out?" he asked.
Heero chuckled a little as he held Duo a little tighter. "Well, I guess everybody's got their demons, Duo. I'm no different. I know I'm moving forward, but I'm still working out what I've got a right to expect now," he said.
Duo tilted his head. "To expect?"
"Hai," Heero said. "It's like before, I had nothing to lose, so it didn't really matter if I made it out or not. Now that I have, I'm trying to work out everything I've done," he added. "Nothing balances."
Duo listened, frowning slightly at the last two words. "Nothing balances? You mean like the stuff in the war and all that? Is it supposed to?"
"Hn," Heero remarked. "Maybe not," he said, then tilted Duo's face to his. "Do you want to know what your surprise is now or later? I don't mind telling."
Duo brushed his fingers through Heero's tousled hair. "Okay, what's my surprise?"
"I bought a house on L2," Heero said. "It's got room enough for all three of us."
Duo titled his head and slowly smiled. "Did you now," he said. "So you think my apartment's too crowded, huh?"
"It's nothing against your apartment. It's cozy and I like it. I've been thinking about a place for all of us. Three or more and, yes, it gets a little crowded." Heero said. "I can sell it, though, if you don't like it."
Duo shook his head. "Nope, you bought it, it stays. Matter of fact I'm very proud of you! That's..." his gaze softened. "That's the first time you've done anything which has indicated that you even plan to be around for a while." He bent and kissed Heero deeply. "Good."
He added, "Don't mind me. I grew up sleeping in alleys. A crowded orphanage was like paradise. I like having people around me - close around. But somebody like Wu - he'd need a bit more space over time, so it was a good idea."
A slight smile traced over Heero's features. Sliding his hand around the back of Duo's neck, he pulled him down into deep and lingering kiss of his own. "Thanks," he said, softly. "The last time, when you told me to come to your place so we could talk, was the first time I'd even thought of having a regular place to live. Consequences of a fucked up existence."
"I know," Duo said, stroking Heero's neck. "But god, how I love living in the tiny apartment with you - never more than an arms-length or so away."
"I don't think that's going to change that much, Duo," Heero said, "But, I do understand what you mean."
Duo took a deep breath and relaxed a little. "You're cooking up something with Zechs and Wufei, right?"
"Yeah," Heero said, "They're doing some leg work on that information Father Thomas gave us. I figured they could do that, while we take care of this part. By the time everyone is done, I don't think the good Monsignor will be able to hide in the Church any longer, therefore, he won't be missed as much."
Duo's eyes widened and then he laughed. His expression stilled slowly to a more serious one. He took a deep breath. "It's coming, Heero," he said quietly. "It's coming back. I keep trying," he dropped his eyes for a minute. "I keep trying not to remember, but it's coming anyway. I have to... I have to get it back before we return to Earth."
"You will," Heero said, emphatically. "You'll get it all back... because it belongs to you. It's yours and no one can keep it from you, Duo. This time you aren't alone. I'll be here. We can work this out."
"Work what out?" Duo said with a touch of bleakness in his eyes far away. "Something that happened years ago? How can you work that out? I don't *wanna* remember, Heero. I just know I have to. It's coming if I like it or not." He shook his head, laying it against Heero's neck.
Heero closed his eyes for a moment, allowing a thought to rise to the forefront of his mind. "Hn," he remarked, then said, "Working with the Zero system and Epyon, there were two questions that came back over and over. Who is my enemy? and What is my destiny? The only thing was, the system was working with the material it had... the pilot. So, what I'm saying miserably is, you're working with you. Whatever happens, you won't be killed. You just have to get through it." Opening his eyes, Heero sighed, then looked down.
Duo thought about his lover's words. He thought about saying that he wasn't afraid of being killed, but he realized it wasn't as true as it had once been. He had things to loose. Like Heero.
He decided a simple nod was all the answer he wanted to make right now, but he pondered what Heero had said. "I will," he said finally.
"So, we have one and a half to two hours left until we make contact with another being. You wanna just nap out here on my chest or test my throttle?" Heero asked.
Duo lifted his head quickly, his grin widening rapidly. "Vroom, vroom," he said wickedly.
Heero laughed. Leaning forward, he kissed Duo deeply once again.
'Everyone has their demons,' Heero had said.
Do they really? Duo thought, as he kissed his lover deeply. For a few seconds, his imagination played with the thought. What if everyone had demons?
'They do,' Eligor chuckled, his baritone rumble comfortable like worn leather. 'They do. But they clothe our faces in familiar masks. They tune our voices to familiar timbres. Then they ignore our taunts... but they tell themselves that hearing them means they have a conscience.'
"Do your demons philosophize, Heero?" Duo asked, as he began to unfasten and peel the clothing from the Japanese boy's body.
"Hn," Heero remarked, as he felt that strange and wonderful feeling of being cared for by Duo. "Yes, I suppose they do, Duo," he said thinking.
Some of the horde snickered. 'See, told ya.'
Having peeled his lover, Duo began removing his own clothing, resuming his position sitting atop the Perfect Soldier. "Do you ignore them? Or do you listen?" he asked, as he leaned down and began kissing a slow trail of moist heat along his lover's body, starting at his neck and working a side-to-side trail across the smooth bare skin.
Heero's eyes closed and he brushed his fingers along Duo's side, lightly. "Sometimes I try to ignore them, but I listen more than not. What about you?"
Duo bent and swirled his tongue around a taut nipple, then sucked gently, loosing himself for a minute in the taste of the warm skin, the feel of it against his tongue. He licked like a cat cleaning over to the other side of Heero's chest and treated that bud of flesh the same way.
"I can't ignore them, Heero," he said, breathing warm air on the wet skin. "Argue with them, listen, agree or disagree, but not ignore."
Heero shivered as his hand moved over Duo's hip, squeezing the soft flesh. "What do you think of them, Duo?" he asked.
Duo traced his tongue along the well-defined abs on the stomach between his legs. He sighed softly. "Mostly..." he murmured, "I don't."
The horde responded with catcalls and raspberries.
Heero smiled. "Baka," he whispered.
Duo's mouth curved upwards at the familiar designation. His braid slid over his shoulder and trailed around Heero's skin as he took one of his lover's hands and began sucking each finger, one by one, slowly.
Heero shuddered, feeling his body flush and tense as he felt his fingers taken into Duo's mouth and gently sucked. The long silken braid caused him to shiver as it brushed his skin. Cupping his hand around Duo's face, Heero leaned forward and pulled Duo to him, kissing him deeply and roughly.
Sighing inaudibly, Duo melted into the kiss. Heero's fire always stoked his own. He slid his arms around Heero's body and rubbed himself along the length of that body, skin to skin from chest to ankles. His manhood was swollen, rubbing against its counterpart, transmitting searing heat.
Heero moaned as he felt Duo's body against his own. His hands moved around Duo's waist and lower as he pressed the braided pilot against him. Moving back slightly, Heero kissed Duo's cheek, tracing his tongue along Duo's jawline. "Duo," he said hoarsely. His hands tightened around Duo's body, pulling him up, slightly. Reaching down, he flipped the release on the chair and moved it down and back. "Want you now!" he breathed.
Duo reared up, straddling Heero's body with a dreamy smile. "My favorite three words," he sighed. He bent and before Heero could move, took the Japanese boy in his mouth, coating him in warm saliva. Then he moved again guiding Heero's rigid shaft to his own entrance.
Heero's hands slid around Duo's waist again. Feeling the touch of Duo's soft skin against his, Heero lifted his hips as he moved Duo slowly down over his aching flesh. He swallowed hard, feeling Duo's body envelope him. "Come here," he said, through clenched teeth, pulling Duo over him. "Wanna feel you."
Duo chuckled softly, as his eyelids dropped. "I... feel *you*," he purred, sliding along Heero's body, his knees bending to lock his legs around Heero's. He captured his lover's mouth and kissed him deeply as his body tightened and released slightly, as if swallowing the hard flesh invading him.
Heero growled within the kiss, locking his hands around Duo's hips. Giving himself over to the sensation of his lover all around him, he moved, plunging into Duo's body over and over again. He felt Duo's heated body above him, felt skin slide along skin as he took possession of his lover, claiming him once again.
Those strong, possessive hands around his hips gave Duo a slight shiver, and the growl pushed his temperature up another notch. Each thrust brought a little explosion of pleasure inside, and each one was greater than the last. His hands clutched at Heero's shoulders, as little hungry noises came from his throat. His hands gripped tighter as he approached that final explosion. He broke away from the kiss, panting wildly. "Yes..." he moaned, and then the next thrust forced a scream of pleasure from his throat, barely recognizable as his lover's name.
Heero heard Duo's moans, felt his scream reverberate through his body. His hands gripped tighter, holding onto Duo firmly as his body moved of its own accord. Heero felt his lungs take in air as he pumped into Duo, feeling himself driven to the point of no return. He cried out, driving upwards and releasing deep inside his lover's body.
Duo shuddered hard as he felt Heero's body release inside. He clung to the Japanese boy, as his pulse pounded like thunder in his ears. He nuzzled his face into Heero's neck, staying there until they both grew still.
Heero wrapped his arms around Duo, holding him tightly against his chest. "This is something I don't question," he said, quietly.
Duo sighed, breathing in the scent of Heero's soft hair, mingled with the scents of their bodies still joined. "Nothing... can take this from us," he whispered softly, as if realizing the words' truth as he said them. "I won't let it happen."
"Hai," Heero said, holding on to his love.
Duo rested, his eyes closed, curled against Heero's warm body. He looked as if he were asleep, but he was far from the arms of Morpheus.
He was walking through the corridors of his mind.
It wasn't an orderly place, in fact it would have resembled chaos to anyone else. Duo had never had a problem finding anything he wanted there. But now he realized that there were closed doors there, or once-closed doors, now cracking open. Carefully camouflaged, studiously ignored... mentally Duo shook his head, facing the truth - it was easier to deal with demons, to brace an Old One in its lair...
Easier to deal with Oz and all it's forces, easier to kill in battle, easier to face death... to become Death... than to walk through any of those long-sealed doors and face what lay beyond.
He wasn't a coward. Even as a small child, he'd known things weren't right. Known there was something wrong with the world. Known it wasn't justice to be fired on with live ammo for stealing a couple of apples from a market stall. Known that when the sickness came, some had money for medicine, but many more didn't. Known that his friends, the only family he knew, were just so much human refuse to the rest of the Colony, and especially to the Alliance military. All these ugly truths he'd faced with his wide eyes open and his head up, wiping away any moisture that blurred his vision. Hadn't whined, hadn't begged, just accepted, learned, and survived.
But something haunted him beyond those sealed, invisible, forgotten doors. And that something had come calling when life had finally become more than a battle for survival.
He could sense the movement behind those opening doors. Feel the terror held back by the thinnest wisps of shadows. And in so feeling, he realized that it had been with him long time.
In time, he left the corridors and walked back into the dark space that opened from them. Instead of walking into its midst, he moved slowly through the ranks of figures, solid and formless, whose numbers were ever-changing. Many seemed to sleep, sated on lust. Others moved uneasily as he walked among them, unused to his presence manifesting in this way. He looked as closely as the shifting darkness would allow. Some were quite physical, with thick hides, or scaled backs or rough-textured coverings. Others undulated like warm mist across his hands.
Where the shadows were thickest, darkest, the Old Ones gathered, shape by unimaginable shape. Cthulhu, Dagon, Hastur, Shub-Niggurath... Their forms were the most horrific, the least defined, yet Duo found he could reach out and his fingertips lightly brush the steaming coat of the Goat with a Thousand Young before it melted into a deeper darkness. He tried to peer further into those shadows and suddenly found himself looking into a void in space, where dying stars flickered feebly and the cold was absolute.
A soft hiss turned his eyes from the madness there and he stepped away, but not in fear. And they watched him go with unfathomable senses. Something tugged at his memory and he glanced back once, sensing something familiar, something... recent... but it evaporated before he could grasp it and he moved on.
It was warmer as he made his way to the center of the rough circle, brushing by hot leather wings and thorned tails delicately, smiling slightly as he realized they moved aside for him, then moved closer to touch, in much the same indirect way as he.
Reaching the clear space, he looked around, seeing Astraroth, Eligor, Bathym, Halphas and all the others, lesser and greater.
'You were not always here,' Duo said, a little wistfully.
Some rustling, muffled laughter. It was reassuring.
'No,' Astaroth said. 'We have been here from an age before time. It is you who are the latecomer, darkchild.'
Duo tilted his head, trying to understand, but like almost everything they told him, it was a riddle... slippery and hard to grasp.
'I remember... before,' Duo said, not yet naming the memory. 'I remember after. Before, I don't remember you.'
'There are reasons,' Bathym said, her broken voice a travesty of a girlish coo.
Duo nodded, not expecting much more. It was confirmation in a way, of something he was still piecing together.
'The Prof said you were delusions,' he mentioned, just out of curiosity.
This time the amusement was louder as more of the demons woke.
'We are, of course,' Astaroth agreed with a smile.
'Your soul-keeper's calling you,' Eligor mentioned.
The horde enjoyed Duo's sudden gasp as he heard Heero's voice next to his ear.
"Duo... wake up. We're almost there."
