"I'm sorry I couldn't spend more time with you, Milliardo..."

"Father, what's the point of my coming to Space with you when we never get to go anything together?"

"Civilian shuttle..? Obstacle on target, preparing to shoot down... what? An Alliance carrier, tracking me..."

*static*

"We'll disable him, Lt. Duchesse."

"No! It's not the ship... it's the pilot we want. I'm going after him in the Aries."

"Be careful, ma'am."

"Your concern is unnecessary, Otto."

*static*

"It's transforming into a mobile suit!"

*static*

"HAHAHAHAHA! Underestimate me? ...one more to go..."

"The mobile suit may be undamaged, but that reckless pilot won't have survived..."

Walking along the sea wall, Milliardo Dorlan fumed softly. He was tall for his 17 years, long, platinum blond hair swaying as he walked, brushing the top of well-shaped, narrow hips, the wind playing with uneven strands that fell carelessly across an amazingly beautiful face. Ice-blue eyes were clouded with disappointment.

"Father..." the youth muttered. "You don't even care that my birthday is coming. All you think of is business... and politics..."

Glancing down, the teen noticed something dark marring the tranquil line of the beach below. "What... a... body?!"

Running down the access steps, Milliardo went to the still figure. "A... spacesuit? But this is no soldier... it's so small..."

Kneeling, he removed the helmet and stared down into a face that could be no more than 15 years old. Dark hair fringed over exotic, beautiful Asian features.

"It's just a boy!" Milliardo breathed, feeling a surge of unreasoning attraction and excitement. Already secure in his alternative sexuality, the blond youth had never seen anyone who affected him as this still stranger did.

The dark-fringed lashes fluttered and the stranger's eyes opened. Seeing the youth leaning over him, the stranger scrambled to his feet, backing away, one hand covering his face.

"Did you... see...?"

"You're saying that three of your mobile suits were shot down? It's not like you to be so careless, Raina."

"It was made of gundamiun alloy."

"A Gundam?"

"...and welcome a new student, Heero Yuy. Heero, you may take your seat there, next to Milliardo. Feel free to ask him any question you have, he's one of our star pupils."

My god, Milliardo thought. It's the same person... from the beach...

"It's good to meet you, Heero..." he said warmly, as the Japanese boy sat in the empty seat.

Yuy neither looked his way, nor acknowledged him at all.

Why... is he behaving like this? Milliardo wondered, feeling his face flush. I can win him over... no one refuses me when I decide to be their friend...

Walking ahead of the group of boys who seemed to surround Milliardo everywhere he went, the tall youth caught up with the dark Japanese boy. Extending a hand, he offered a small envelope.

"It's an invitation... to my birthday party..."

The dark blue eyes met Milliardo's ice-blue ones, as the boy tore the invitation in half and let the pieces fall.

Stunned, Milliardo felt a jolt of emotional pain such as he'd never experienced. Then a flash of anger.

"Why?"

Walking by, the boy reached up and trailed the back of his fingers across Milliardo's hot cheeks, never pausing. The dark eyes flickered.

"I'm going to kill you..."

Time skips....

In the empty office, the student known as Heero Yuy tapped the keys of a terminal keyboard rapidly.

"This should do it... torpedoes... the base is not far from here..."

"I'm so sorry I'm late, Milliardo," Andrew apologized. The Dorlan estate was decorated, and filled with young people celebrating. "It's so strange, I thought I saw that new boy, Heero..."

"You saw Heero?" Milliardo turned sharply.

"Well it looked like him... but he was driving an ambulance..."

"Where are you going...?"

Heedless of the expensive white silk of his suit, Milliardo headed for the military base on his motorcycle, long hair whipping behind him. Leaving the bike on the dock, he spotted the slight figure, working a crane that seemed to be about to lower a set of torpedoes into the water. Ignoring the sirens and explosions going on all around, he ran forward.

"Heero!"

Turning, the dark boy looked up, surprised. "Milliardo..." What is it with this guy? Can't take 'I'm going to kill you' for an answer...

Whipping out the gun, Yuy pointed it, aiming between the ice-blue eyes.

"You're in over your head... say goodbye, Milliardo."

As the gun cocked, another shot rang out first. Turning too late, Yuy felt the impact of the bullet like white fire.

"Who are you?!"

The black clad figure stood, still aiming for the other boy.

"It's obvious to anyone that you're the bad guy here... you alright, fella?"

Running to the Japanese boy, Milliardo tried to reach for the injured youth. "Heero... are you okay?"

Darting up, Yuy tried to go for the gun, but the black-clad figure shot again, grazing the other boy's leg and knocking the gun away. "Don't over do it..."

Milliardo put his body in the way. "Are you crazy? What are you shooting him for?"

"How did I end up as the bad guy...?"

Beeping alarms drew the attention of all parties. "I must have miscalculated the tide..."

"What is that?"

"Don't look, just walk away..."

Jumping up, Yuy darted for the torpedoes.

Shooting again, the black-clad one yelled, "Haven't you had enough?!"

"It's *my* mobile suit," Yuy growled as he hit the detonator with a fist, dropping the torpedoes and himself into the water. The torpedoes sped off, throwing the injured boy into the water.

"Finally... finished... mission... complete..."

"Noooo!" Duo screamed, watching the explosion. "Damn... he knows gundanium's impact tolerance... he... must be the mobile suit's pilot..."

Oblivious, Milliardo ran to the side of the carrier, looking down to see the body of Heero Yuy, floating face down in the water.

The sirens blared, and the base began to be flooded with men running everywhere.

"Time to make a quick exit," Duo muttered. Feeling a deep sense of dread and guilt, he dropped over the side of the carrier into the small speedboat waiting below. Not much time... cursing himself, he whipped the boat around and came alongside the body, hauling it into the boat with him. As bullets whizzed around his head, Duo gunned the speedboat and escaped. In the bottom of the boat, an inert lifeless figure lay in a pool of water, mixed with blood.

Later, back at the salvage yard, Duo pull the cap from his head and tossed it on the table. He looked down at the injured kid on the bed and shook his head. "Now who hell are you, buddy?" he thought. He could see blood oozing from the tears in the boy's clothes, so Duo went to get some water and fresh bandages.

Waking to the throb of two gunshot wounds, a possible concussion and a number of contusions, Yuy looked around, struggling to his feet and backing up to the nearest wall. Not recognizing the place, he looked for an exit, using the wall at his back to steady him. The injured leg blazed with the pain of having weight but on it, but Yuy ignored the pain with long practice.

The door opened and Duo glanced at the bed. It was empty. "Hn?" he commented, then looked up and saw the injured kid standing against the wall. "You're up," he said. "Don't think you're gonna get too far on that busted leg. Sit down and I'll fix ya up, pal."

Scowling, Yuy recognized the kid who shot him - twice. The pieces began to fit together - the *two* suits coming to the surface... this was a... another Gundam pilot? Nevertheless, he was an enemy - the bullet wounds proved that.

"Stay away from me..." Yuy growled.

"Huh?" Duo said, not understanding at first, then. "Oh yeah. Sorry about that, but you left me no choice. Why don't we call a truce and I'll get you bandaged up. We need to talk. By the way, I got your suit from the water with mine. It's here in the yard." Duo said.

If possible, the scowl deepened. "Impossible... I blew it up," he growled again. "Whoever you are... you're my enemy."

Duo frowned. "What are you on, pal?" he replied. "You're shot and bleeding. Don't you want to get cleaned up? Besides, if I am your enemy, then you're my enemy too. We can work that out later. That leg must be hurtin' like hell."

"It doesn't matter," Yuy said, dismissing the bleeding wounds. "I don't need your help. You're interfering."

Now Duo was becoming annoyed. "Look, hauling you out of the water and dragging you back here wasn't my idea of a fun way to pass the time, buddy. So why don't you just sit down. This'll take a second or two and then you can bail out of here and see ya on the battlefield." he said, in what he thought was a reasonable tone.

"Why *did* you bring me here?"

Duo looked up, dumbfounded. He shook his head, finally. "I brought ya here to talk about the fact that we have two Gundam suits that appear to be alike. I wanted to find out if you knew why, cause I certainly don't. I was given the impression that mine was the only suit of its kind. Are you curious, too?"

"I wasn't told about any others," Yuy growled. "But I'm sure I wasn't told about a lot of things. I definitely wasn't told to cooperate." Reaching over, still supporting himself against the wall, Yuy picked up an object from a nearby tabletop. It was a small screwdriver. Clenching his teeth, he inserted the screwdriver into the bullet wound on his shoulder, using his left hand. Grimacing, fresh blood poured from the wound. After an agonizing moment, the screwdriver moved and something popped out of the wound and pinged on the floor - the bullet.

"Hey!" Duo exclaimed, horrified as he watched the kid use a screwdriver to dig out the bullet. "Oh man," he grimaced. "Gross. I mean I got a perfectly good knife," he added, then swallowed. "Oh never mind." He took the bandages and handed them to the kid. "Here. I guess you're capable."

Glaring suspiciously, Yuy reached over and took a roll of bandage, wrapping it around the shoulder and tying the knot with the help of his teeth. Then he wrapped the leg wound, a shallow but wicked graze.

Breathing deeply, Yuy stood up a bit straighter. "You want... what?"

Duo looked up at him. He sighed. "I want to know who the hell you are." Duo said. "I'm Duo, Duo Maxwell. Hey, wait a second, I'll be right back." he said, then left the room again.

When the door closed, Yuy slumped slightly. Grabbing another bandage, he wiped the spilled blood roughly from his skin and clothes. The bike shorts and tank top were filthy, but they'd hold up a little longer. They had to. Yuy could not let anyone else find out his secret, certainly not this guy. Unconsciously, he contrasted the two young men who had fouled his life. Milliardo - the tall, beautiful blond, rich and privileged... and weird. The guy must be some find of fag, the way he kept sniffing around Yuy, parading around with his little gang of admirers, kiss-asses.

This one, this... Duo Maxwell... Yuy recognized something behind the casual-sounding words. Maxwell *was* a pilot. He didn't know how he could tell, he just could. Probably a good one, too. The accent was faint, but Yuy thought he detected a hint of an L2 drawl. A colony boy, like me, he thought. So there are others... maybe more than one. And *he* didn't screw up and nearly let his suit fall into enemy hands.

The resentment was tempered only by a rather inexplicable sense of attraction. Yuy, get a grip, he thought, deliberately moving from the wall, and jarring the shoulder to cause a throbbing stab of pain. No room for that here. Best to just appease the guy, and get out as soon as possible, but... that wasn't going to be easy. If he really had salvaged what was left of Wing, Yuy couldn't leave it here. There were no exceptions written into his orders, nothing that said only the Alliance was prohibited from getting their hands on the suit.

The door opened again and Duo came in. He didn't bother asking, but just threw a couple of towels on the bed. "The guys brought sandwiches." he said, matter of factly. "Here." He tossed one to the kid along with a bottle of water. "Ok, now. Oh yeah. I wasn't told anything either. What's your name, guy? Or is that a big secret, too?" Duo said, biting into a sandwich.

Yuy stared, then opened the water and drank the entire bottle in a long series of swallows. Dropping the empty container to the floor, he picked up a sandwich. No telling when an opportunity to get food would come, better take it.

"My *code* name is Yuy. Heero Yuy." he said, wolfing down the food.

"Ok," Duo said, scarfing down the rest of his sandwich. "Now we're getting somewhere. Your suit is on the dock. It's gonna need some repairs though. My guys will look it over for ya... no charge." he said.

Clenching his fists, Yuy said, "NO!" He took a step forward. "Don't.. touch.. my... suit." Locking eyes with the boy, he noticed how large and wide those eyes were, and blue.... almost violet. "You salvaged the suit... that's done. If it can be repaired, I'll do it myself. If you... if you want to let me use your tools, I'll be... grateful," he ground out, in a tone that said anything but.

Duo raised his hands in a defensive posture. 'Man is he testy!' he thought. "Ok, don't bust a brain cell, pal. You can use what you can find in there. I'll tell the guys you want to repair it yourself. No problem. Look, why don't you get cleaned up, maybe get some rest or something. That suit isn't going anywhere."

Yuy took a breath and let it out. He glanced around. "Water...? and... a latrine?"

Duo stepped to one side. "Right through that door, Heero." he said, pointing to one of the doors in the room. "I'll be out with the guys. Be my guest."

Yuy glared at the other boy. "Don't... come in," he said, then grabbed a towel and went through the indicated door.

"Huh?" Duo said. 'Hn,' he thought. 'He doesn't think that I'm.... And who was that guy back there? The blond kinda lightweight pretty boy who tried to protect Heero?' "Hey, I'm not!" he called, then shook his head and left the room.

Satisfied, Yuy closed the door, noticing that the door didn't have a lock on it. Well, Maxwell said he wouldn't come in, and Yuy somehow believed the boy wouldn't lie. The room was small, more of a general shop restroom than anything. No show, just a row of urinals and a row of sinks. It was sufficient for what had to be done.

Walking carefully over to the row of sinks, Yuy placed the towel down on the counter, and peeled off the bike shorts, dropping them in one of the sinks and running water to rinse them. The tank top came off, dropped in the same water. Standing in front of the tarnished mirror, Heero Yuy looked at the person that looked back. The reflection looked... odd. Taking the towel, Yuy moistened it and wiped off the last of the blood carefully. Then, taking a deep breath, Yuy reach both hands behind, gripping the edges of the nearly invisible sheath that enclosed the torso from armpits to waist. Finding the invisible closure, Yuy released it, and the sheath peeled off, not easily... it was sticky with sweat and blood spatters. Next, the thong, with its extra front padding. Dropping both to the floor, Yuy looked again at the distorted reflection, as always mildly disgusted by what looked back.

Small, compact breasts, a dark triangle at the crotch... for the millionth time, Heero Yuy cursed the god that had brought her into this world in the body of a female. Taking the towel, she allowed the rare luxury of a quick, cursory cleansing of her naked body. Too bad about that Maxwell... he was... cute, yes, way too attractive. But there was no room in Yuy's life for thoughts like that. Forget them.

Rinsing the shorts and top, she spread them out on an unoccupied sink to dry, and wiped down the inside of the elastic sheath, placing it there also. Then the thong. Almost done. Grimacing, she straddled one of the urinals, much to used to this to notice anything other than the discomfort added by the wounded leg, in the slightly crouched position necessary to do what had to be done.

Allowing a very brief sigh of relief, Yuy knew she'd be good for another six or eight hours. Better get dressed. The clothes would be wet but they'd dry quickly enough. Then go survey the Wing. Padding over to the sinks again, she picked up the thong.

"Oh damn," Duo thought, hearing the familiar beep coming from the Gundam that didn't belong to him. "He's got a call."

Turning, he dashed back to the room to alert Heero Yuy. Without thinking, he opened the door to the bathroom. "Heero you got ..." Duo said, and then stopped cold. His eyes widened as they took in the contours and shape of the girl's body he saw in front of him. "Uh..." he muttered, glancing up into the boy's? eyes. "... a call." he finished, feeling his body ache in instant response. 'Oh man,' was the only thing that came to mind as he stood dumbfounded.

Whirling, Yuy's eyes widened as she realized she was completely exposed... the violet-eyed boy was staring with a very peculiar expression on his face. Clenching her fists, a ferocious expression took over her features, but not before a flash of pure terror preceded it. "Maxwell..." she hissed. "Now I have to kill you..." It had to be quick and it had to be now, she realized, cursing the jinx that seemed to hover over her life. Stalking forward she decided to try and strangle him with the thong.

Duo took a couple of steps back as the figure turned to him, exposing more. 'Oh man,' he thought again, feeling his skin grow hotter and the material of his pants strain to contain him. He heard the words 'kill you', but they held little meaning. Yuy got within reaching distance before the spell broke and Duo's eyes widened again. "Y...you... call! You got a mission!" he said.

Yuy advanced. "First I take care of you... too bad, I actually think I like you, Maxwell. How often does that happen?" Taking the thong on both hands and stretching it out, she prepared to jump on him.

Finally, Duo's brain kicked in and he perceived the threat. Without thinking, he stepped aside and reached out, managing to duck just under the line of cloth that was to go around his throat. He had no doubts that he would have been killed. Before he knew it, his arms locked around Heero's body, lifting the other kid up off the floor. He had planned on following through by tossing the body to the floor, but Duo found himself once again distracted. The body against his own caused a wave of pleasure to wash over him and he shivered involuntarily. "Oh no," he heard himself moan.

Finding herself grabbed by Duo's strong arms, Yuy cursed her clumsiness, though the truth was the other kid was fast. Feeling the bulge in the trousers behind her, she growled, and twisted, throwing a knee to the area... but with much less force than she planned. Instead of a crippling blow, she managed enough to cause pain and shock, loosening his hold, but knew she'd pulled the blow at the last moment. Weakling, she cursed herself.

Dropped to the floor, she found her feet and squared off facing him, fists clenched.

"You have to die," she hissed. "No one knows..."

Breathing hard and knowing he was lucky, the kick could have been worse, Duo looked at Heero squarely. "I've got no one to tell." Duo said, "You have a mission and I won't die like this. I'll die in battle. Do what you have to do."

Panting, Yuy locked eyes with the other pilot. I can't do it... I can't kill him. Cursing inwardly, she backed off. "I can't take a mission with a busted suit," she bit off. Backing up further, she grabbed the thong from the floor, stepping into it and turning around, keeping an eye on him in the row of tarnished mirrors. Next she grabbed the sheath, pulling it around her torso and sealing it, the tight material pressing her chest flat, molding it to a more boyish contour. Still watching him in the mirror, she pulled on the bike shorts and the tank top and turned around.

Duo felt the tension in the room drop a little. He took a deep breath. "You're in a yard that specializes in Gundam repairs. You wanna work on it, fine. Like I said, use what you can find. There's something more important than us." he said, moving back to let Heero pass.

Scowling continuously, Yuy walked past him stiffly, glancing down at the moment they were the closest, noting the still bulging area of Duo's pants. Her eyes moved back up to his and she licked her lips, then turned and left the room. Stopping, she turned back around and walked up to him one last time. Grabbing his braid, she pulled his head forward and landed a kiss on his mouth that was hungry and mean, full tongue, flat out. Then she released him and stepped back.

"If you tell anyone, I will kill you - I *will* do it," she said, then turned and left.

Duo felt his chest rise and fall rapidly. He could still feel her mouth on his as he watched Heero leave the room. His eyes were glued to her backside as she left. "And ruin it all for myself? No way!" he muttered. Then his mouth stretched into an evil smile. "I think I'm in love."

The challenge / idea was, "What if Heero was a woman.."

We also switched Relena and her brother, as you can tell.
