           Pianist Peep Lassmann is well known in his native country of Estonia and around the world. His solo appearances and collaborations with other musicians took him across Europe and Asia, as well as United States, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba.
           Born in Tallinn, Mr. Lassmann began to study piano at the Estonian Music Academy under Prof. Heljo Sepa and later continued his studies at the world famous Moscow Conservatory in Russia with renowned pianist Emil Gilels. After graduation he was immediately engaged in extensive concert tours as recitalist and an accompanist. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and re-establishment of an independent Estonia, Mr. Lassmann was asked to lead the Estonian Music Academy, and became its Rector in 1991.
           Despite busy administrative job, Mr.Lassmann continued his concert appearances. He collaborated with world leading musicians as violinists Aaron Rosand and Marianne Boettcher, singer Yolande Hernandez and cellist Yosif Feigelson, among others. Mr. Lassmann has also recorded an album of Estonian piano music. His repertoire is extremely varied and includes Petites Esquisses d'Oiseaux  (Little Sketches of Birds) by French composer Olivier Messiaen. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Lassmann is an avid bird-watcher. He currently presides over the Estonian Ornithological Society.
