- The Queen of Nanaimo operates between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands for most of the year. In the low-season she is usually replaced with the smaller Queen of Tsawwassen.
- The Queen of Nanaimo was one of the first ferries to be painted in new colors in April of 2003.

| Year | Event |
| 1964 | Launched |
| 1968 | The Queen of Nanaimo had platforms installed in the vehicle deck to increase capacity. |
| 1970 | Along with six other ferries, the Queen of Nanaimo was stretched 84 feet to further increase capacity. |
| 2001 | October 15 - The post-September 11th anthrax scare hit BC Ferries when a crew member on board the Queen of Nanaimo found an unidentified white powder in a roll of coins. The ferry was taken out of service for the day. |
