Long Live the New Flesh Reissued! (05/09/03)

Everybody party like it's 1987...Long Live the New Flesh is back!!! Flesh's breakthrough 1987 album is about to be rereleased on CD. On August 12, new 80s-loving label Superfecta Recordings will reissue "Long Live the New Flesh" on CD while adding a few extra gems. Added bonus tracks will include the extended remixes of "Postcards From Paradise" and "Siamese Twist" along with old b-sides "Dumbest Thing" (Live in Your Living Room) and "I'm Not Like Everybody Else". All four songs are previously unavailable on CD format.

In addition, Nick Nasty and band manager Willobee will be writing the linear notes for the CD along with some other nostalgic memorabilia.

Let's all give a big shout out to our homies at Superfecta Recordings for organizing the reissue. The new label is out to bring back the great music that was sadly overlooked of the 80s. Other 80s releases that they've orchestrated are Del Amitri (Expanded Edition), Cabaret Voltaire "The Original Sound Of Sheffield '83 - '87" and the soundtrack for the 80s movie "Bachelor Party" for the first time ever on CD. Way to go guys!!!

Flesh for Lulu is Officially Back!!! (01/14/01)

Woo! The Flesh for Lulu reunion that we've been praying for for the last couple of years is official! Confirmed earlier this week, the gang will be getting back together for a west coast tour; most likely as headliners with opening act Gene Loves Gezebel. This will be followed by a national summer 2001 tour in July and August in a return to the 80s tour with OMD, General Public, and The Alarm. A Flesh for Lulu best-of compilation will be released in the coming months as promotion for the tour and will feature some old classics, previously unreleased tracks and a few new gems as well.

As always, new information such as tour dates, release dates, track listings, etc. will be posted here as soon as soon as we here something.

Flesh 2000 - The Millenium Update (9/13/00)

The on again off again greatly anticipated Flesh For Lulu reunion appears to be on again...again. Coming to rid the world (or at least the west coast of the U.S.) of the manufactured boy bands, look for the guys to once again take the world by storm in the coming months. Here's the story...

Long time Fleshers Nick, Rocco, Del and Hans (the drummer who originally replaced James and played on "Next Time (I'll Dream of You)" the mega hit theme song to the cult classic film "Flashback") have been offered a tour of the West Coast. They will be doing it as Flesh4Lulu and showcasing all the old hits..."Subterraneans", "I Go Crazy", "Postcards", etc... Kevin Mills and James Mitchell have reportedly been out of the music business too long to just hop back into a tour of this magnitude.

The band has also been offered a two album deal from Cleopatra Records. They want to finally release the critically acclaimed "Plastic Fantastic" followup album - an album that they'd recorded after Plastic Fantastic but was regretably never released and a different version of the Gigantic album, as Flesh4Lulu, which was also never officially released.

There has been no official signing as of yet to any of this however, everyone invloved is trying to get things moving asap. As always, more news will be posted here as soon as it is made available.

New News 1999 remix!!! (4/7/99)
It appears as if the Flesh for Lulu reunion that we have all been counting on to save the sad state of 90s music is off for the time being. But we have a new savior!!!

The Space Police are coming!!! The Space Police are coming!!! Life long Flesh member Rocco Barker has hooked up with Ragga toaster General Levy and programmer Doctor Cat to form the freshest new sound from London - The Space Police! Their debut album "Money Maker" is the result and is described as "electronic dancehall, a cross between The Prodigy and Yellowman". So everybody, lock the doors and bring in the kids because the buzz is on...

No word yet as to a possible release date for the Space Police but I do hope to showcase a sound clip in the not too distant future.

As for Nick Nasty, he's currently doing a lounge act which he is really enjoying.

Here's some of the older news...

New News as of this decade! (9/6/98)
Flesh are back! (well, sorta kinda but not really...not yet anyway) Nick and Rocco have been presented with the idea of a Flesh reunion (duh! If you didn't know this much then crawl out from under the rock you've been living under). However, previous band members were kinda leary about the idea. Nick and Rocco have recruited a new bass player and possibly a keyboardist while sticking with Gigantic drummer Al Fletcher while writing and recording a few new songs. The new songs are entitled:

Nick is currently helping his girlfriend put the finishing touches on her album coming out by Virgin Records in the not too distant future. Afterwards, he and Rocco will be flying to Phoenix, Arizona to write and record more material and to play a few small gigs around the Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco area. They will be showcasing old Flesh material, Gigantic stuff and some new songs as well.

To catch you up til that point, here's the 7" edit synopsis.

Flesh for Lulu broke up in 1991 or '92. Nick and Rocco have since started Gigantic, whose long-awaited '96 album entitled "Disenchanted" was a worldwide blockbuster. Despite a recently released single to "Disenchanted" (which features three original b-sides including a cover of "Seasons in the Sun"), record label shenanigans took over and Gigantic was recently dropped from the Columbia label and have thus, split up.

Amid all the controversy of the recent break up, the rumors of a Flesh for Lulu reunion are swirling once again.

The Gigantic album:

DISENCHANTED

  1. Spanish Nightmare Vendetta
  2. Tame Me
  3. In Your Hair
  4. Disenchanted
  5. To Die For
  6. Throw You Out My Window
  7. She Was Always Mad (Flesh for Lulu cover)
  8. Enemy
  9. She's From Heaven
  10. Hypermania
  11. All You Need
