Even More Hanjuku Eiyuu 4 Revealed
24 Jan. 2004
Square Enix has announced more details regarding its PlayStation 2 RPG Hanjuku Eiyuu 4: 7nin no Hanjuku Eiyuu. The key to the game's story will be the seven heroes. On his travels to outer space, the protagonist will meet six other heroes residing on various planets. Each hero will carry on egg, which allows him or her to summon a special egg monster. The queen of the Romancing Kingdom, Lunae Romancing, is one of those seven heroes. She carries a pink egg, which allows her to summon Pink Egg Man. The mask which hides her face also seems to conceal her sad past.
Hanjuku Eiyuu 4: 7nin no Hanjuku Eiyuu will be available in Japan sometime this year.

Square has revealed some new details regarding the storyline of its upcoming PlayStation 2 remake Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song. Since mythical times, four monsters, known as the Four Heavenly Gods, have existed on the continent of Maldius. All four were originally evil gods. However after the War of the Gods, the world returned into an even balance, as the evil god Saruin was sealed away by Sun God Erroll. Still the power of the Four Heavenly Gods remains a threat to this peaceful atmosphere.

Hanjuku Eiyuu 4 Composers Revealed
23 Jan. 2004
Square Enix has revealed that Nobuo Uematsu and Kenji Itou are jointly composing the soundtrack of its upcoming PlayStation 2 title Hanjuku Eiyuu 4-7nin no Hanjuku Eiyuu. This seems to confirm Uematsu's notion that he will continue to work on Square Enix titles, after leaving his long-time employer to found his own company Smile Please last year. The two composers will be joined by Tsuyoshi Sekito (composer of Brave Fencer Musashi, Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2, All Star Pro Wrestling 2) and Kenichirou Fukui, both members of Uematsu's rock band, The Black Mages. Director and producer Takashi Tokita also mentioned that a virtual alter ego of Uematsu will make an appearance in the game.
Hanjuku Eiyuu 4-7nin no Hanjuku Eiyuu will be released in Japan sometime this year.

Uematsu to appear in a game
23 Jan. 2004
Although Nobuo Uematsu has his own music studio called 'Smile Please', he is also still creating music for Square Enix. Mr. Uematsu is currently working on the music for "Hanjuku Hero 4". In addition to the music, Uematsu will have a cameo role in the game, leading a group called Nobuo Uematsu and the Hanjuku Mages. The name is a pun on his own real-world band, Uematsu's Black Mages.
Some of the band members will join him in the game, masquerading as members of the Hanjuku Mages. Romancing SaGa series composer Kenji Ito, who left Square Enix in 2002 to pursue a career as a freelance musician, will also play one of the mages.

Radita Stories trailer
21 Jan. 2004
Radiata Stories hasn't been talked about much, which is suprising, considering it's being developed by Tri-Ace (the company behind the Star Ocean games) and Square Enix (you know who they are). It's a RPG that's going to be released on January 27 in Japan, and it's looking pretty good. It features a day/night system, "living towns" (characters going about their daily routines and such, like Fable), and over 300 characters, about half of which can join your party throughout the game. Also, you can choose between two main characters, and there's reportedly a ton of collecting you can do, so that should offer some replay value.
There's a new 3:45-long trailer at the official site, Radita Stories Promo Video. Click on Narrow to watch the vid (Broad takes you to a page with info, no movie). It should open in Windows Media Player (or whatever program you use to watch movies). Accompanying the visuals is what I assume to be the game's theme song. It's pretty nice.

Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel ships
20 Jan. 2004
Square Enix's anime-based PlayStation 2 exclusive descends on American retailers.
Fans of the Fullmetal Alchemist series need wait no longer for the next installment. Square Enix announced Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel has shipped the anime-inspired action RPG to North American stores. Rated "T" for teen, the game will retail for $39.99, and is exclusive to the PlayStation 2.
Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel continues the adventure of the Elric brothers, Alphonse and Edward, a pair of talented alchemists who do what alchemists do best. Namely, transmute one object into another. However the brothers Elric are far from your average bookish types. In the previous game, both were severely injured to the point where parts of their anatomy--and in Alphonse's case, his entire body--were replaced by metal armor. Using their alchemy skills and artificial limbs (which double as weapons), they set out to find the Philosopher's Stone, a magical relic which will be able to change them back to their former selves.
