FF up the Ass
Week 13 edition

Last week we saw some pretty big scores from individuals, along with team scores.  We saw the LB's rip off a league record, 183 points last week.  In my league "A Viking Turnaround", I also saw a league record put last week with 180 points.  This truly has been the year of the quarterback as McNabb and Manning had yet another great week, both scoring big points.  It's been a crazy season, so why end things now?

Last week I had a terrible week in fantasy and it couldn't come at a worse time.  I ended up going 3-3 last week, with one of those wins coming in a league where I was already out of contention for playoffs.  The three losses that I did have, pretty much knocked me out of playoff contention in three leagues....but more about that later.....

Now onto the candidates.......

FF up the Ass canidates.....(stud performers)

Peyton Manning:
Another 3 TD's and over 400 yards passing, just an average week for Manning these days......

Brian Westbrook: When I got home Sunday night from work, I starting looking up some stats and I have Westbrook in one league, and I first saw that he had 37 yards rushing and I was like, great.......then I scrolled down and saw his 11 rec for 156 yards and 3 TD's and I think I just about shit myself......I'm sure that the LB's might have done the same on Sunday.  That just isn't right for a running back is it??

Donovan McNabb: You know the great thing about guys like McNabb and Manning is that next year people will draft these guys early and they won't even put up half the numbers that they did the year before.  That's what I'm looking forward to next year after seeing McNabb throw for over 450 and 5 TD's (all first half TD's).

Julius Jones:  I thought that this guy deserved a spot on the list after last night's game. Dallas had a pretty easy time with a pretty good defense (or normally a good defense).  Jones ended up with 195 yards and 3 TD's, including the winning score with 30 seconds left in the game.  This rookie from Notre Dame has been injured most of the year so he has fresh legs and look for him to have a huge last few games.

Chad Johnson: It looks like it took a while for this guy to get in the groove of things, but to do what he did against Baltimore's D, that's a pretty impressive effort.  Cincy has a descent schedule the rest of the way so Chad Johnson should be able to end the year on a good note.

Honorable Mention
Joe Horn-  Quietly having a great season dispite New Orleans woes.
Matt Hasselbeck-  I can thank one of my losses this week to this guy.
Ronald Curry-  Great game, then tears his achilles....talk about a double whammy!
Drew Bennett-  3 catches, 3 TD's, another guy that lost me a game last week.
Clinton Portis-  How many people benched this guy last week and what happens, he                             finally breaks out of his year long slump.  In three of my leagues, he                            was benched, talk about a FF up the Ass.....
Mushin Muhammad-  Looking strong down the stretch.....

FF even further up the Ass candidates.....(Disappointing performers)

Jake Plummer- Even though 2 of his picks weren't his fault, it's tough to have a guy score negative points on the week.  It proved to be the difference in two of my three losses on the week.

Brett Favre- In a game where there was supposed to be plenty of offense, it seemed as only Philly could get things going on Sunday.  Another player with a negative points total on the week......just embarassing.....

Santana Moss- I'm sure that there were plenty of people who had high hopes for this guy on the season.  I know that I was one of them, and I assume that JC was another.  But the way that this season has gone for Moss, it's a season to forget by far.  Another week, another 1 catch for Moss......

Tiki Barber- When a team goes up against the Giants for the rest of the year, all they will have to do is stop Barber because that's all this team has right now.  There is no way that Eli Manning can beat a team with the way that he's playing right now.  Why did they yank Warner again?  Bad move......

Dishonorable mention:
Antonio Gates-
He can't have a stud effort every week I guess.
Michael Clayton- He's been steady all season until his 1 catch last week.
Kevan Barlow- Keep it up Kevan, keep it up........
Ahman Green-  Not his fault as Green Bay was down big early.
Deuce "give Jugs a damn DUCE" McAllister-  7 whole carries won't do much.

Comments from my leather computer chair.....

***First off, I'd like to congratulate Little Bastards on shattering the league record for points.  For those of you with your head in the sand, the LB's scored 183 points against his brother Ben last week for some bragging rights in the Carlson household for a while.  My one question for you is why couldn't that effort wait until you play the Flying Hellfish next week?

***I had a chance to catch the matchup between Pittsburgh and Jacksonville last Sunday night and I've been pretty amazed with "Big Ben".  I really like what Pittsburgh is doing with this rookie.  Here are some stats for some of you.  Big Ben is 23-1 as a starter the last two years of playing football.  In each of his ten starts this season, he has NOT thrown the ball more than 25 times.  Doing this obviously eliminates any rookie mistakes.  In the first 3 games, Big Ben was only sacked 4 times but threw 4 INT's but the last 7 games, he has been sacked 18 times and has only 2 INT's.  So this means that he is getting smart and just taking sacking instead of doing something stupid with the ball.  Very impressive for a rookie.

***Well it's that time of the season when us Viking fans start to get let down.  Only teams like Chicago who have been struggling to score TD's (only one TD in their last 46 possesions before the Viking game), can get things going against our defense.  I don't care if we were on the road or not.  I also refuse to give any kind of credit to Chicago's defense either.  Onterrio Smith was running the ball well and he only got 13 carries for the game.  Go figure why we lost.....yet another game where we pass more than we run.

***Speaking of teams who haven't been able to move the ball, Washington comes to mind.  They haven't scored more than 20 points all season long and what do they do against the Giants?  Yup, that's right, they scored 31 points.  Didn't the Giants beat us at some point in the season?  Doesn't say much for the Vikes really.  I'll give another shout out to those people (including myself) who benched Portis last week and watched his 160 all purpose yards and 2 TD's.  Anyone else feel my frustration?  Juice maybe?

***Atlanta IS the worst 9-3 team that I have ever seen.  How pathetic is it that Atlanta is going to get a first round bye in the playoffs and they get shutout by Tampa Bay last Sunday.  I guess that goes to show how far Philly is above the rest of the NFC, either that or maybe the NFC is just horrible altogether.

***Well it's offical.  My team is dead in the water.  After going through the season with minimal injuries, it's now Week 14 and when I need my guns, I don't have them.  Barlow, Holmes, Burress and Bulger are out for week 14.  Stick a fork in me because I'm dead.

***Last week I mentioned the following....."Big win for the Vikes last weekend.  As I see it now, there shouldn't be any way that we finish the year with at least a 10-6 record.  The only tough teams we have yet to play are Green Bay and Seattle (have to give these guys a little respect as they can break out at any time).  Is that enough for the playoffs?"  Well it looks like the best the Vikes will finish is 9-7 now.  But with the way the Vikes love to finish the year, I don't even see that happening after losing to the Bears.

***Let's update everyone on how all of my fantasy teams are doing.....
Viking Turnaround-  I'm 8-5 and am 2nd in scoring with 128 pts a game.
BAFFL-  I'm 10-3 in this league , 1st in scoring at 128 pts a game.
BIGFFBL-  I'm 8-5 and am averaging 104 points a game..
Drobo League-  I finish the year 5-8, 6th in the league in scoring with 110 pts a game
FOFFB-  I'm 7-6 and am fourth in the league in scoring with 114 a game.
Bruce Ciskie Show-  I'm 5-8 and am 5th out of 16 in scoring.

Overall, I'm 42-35 in fantasy leagues.  I am offically eliminated from three league right now:  BIGFFBL, Bruce Ciskie Show, and Drobo league.  In two leagues, Viking Turnaround and FOFFB I need to win to be in for sure and if I lose, I need some major help.  I have cliniched a spot in the BAFFL playoffs already.  Too bad that this league is the one with the least amount of money at stake.  My teams have been horrible in the last two weeks overall and that just killed my playoff hopes in some leagues.  In my Viking Turnaround league, I've only been under 100 points once this season, and I have 5 losses.  Bad luck there indeed.  Hopefully I get gain some luck this week as I need it badly RIGHT NOW!

***I can't let a week go by without an update on early kickers and early defenses.  First kicker taken by JC.....losses to Team Goo to drop to 7-6
First defense taken by Team Nookie...dropped to 3-10, got smoked by LB's

FF up the Ass winner:  Donovan McNabb
FF even further up the Ass winner:  Jake Plummer

Until next week folks!
