FF up the Ass Week 14 edition Another fantasy year coming to an end..... Well it's offical, for a majority of people out there have offically been sent home for the year. It was another great season in the BIGFFBL like it always is. It so happens that my team fell short of playoffs by one game, but I'm still very pleased with how my year went. A 3-2 finish without Priest Holmes to up my record to 9-5 isn't too shabby at all. But more about all of this later.....and that will come in a whole article in itself... This week was absolutely meaningless for most teams in this league except for some teams trying to jockey for position in the playoffs. The only thing I know now is that Wong will have fourth seed and everyone else is down to tiebrakers to figure it out, and fortunately I'm not the one who has to do all of that. Without further ado, here is my last regular season FF up the Ass.......(oh does it bring a tear to my eye......) Now onto the candidates....... FF up the Ass canidates.....(stud performers) T.J. Duckett: Where did this guy come from? It's week 14, a week where teams are trying to either put a lock on playoffs, or trying to get that better seed, and this guy pulls himself out of the woodwork with 4 TD's! I knew there was a reason that I drafted Duckett and haven't dropped him at all throughout the year. Appearently that reason was to kick Wong's ass in the final week of the season! How many years in a row have I done that to Wong?? JC, I need some help here...... Dominick Davis: What else is new that a RB can put up some numbers against Indy's D. Davis ended the day with over 200 all-purpose yards and a TD, helping some people get that last playoff spot in the final week of the season. Billy Volek: In my Viking Turnaround league, I needed to beat the team that had most points by about 60 to overtake him for 25 bucks. I decided not to pick up Volek and go with Jake Delhomme....bad move as Volek throws for over 400 yards and 4 TD's. Needless to say that if I had picked him up, the money would have been mine. Lesson learned here: Always start players against Kansas City.....(by the way, any Denver player has the nod for next week) Darrell Jackson: What a game this guy on Sunday after finding out his dad had died earlier that morning. 10 catches, 135 yards and 1 TD later, he helped Seattle knock off the Vikes on the road. I remember seeing a few of those catches when absolutely nobody was covering the guy, including his TD catch. Talk about making things a little easier on the guy...... Drew Bennett: I was pretty much in awe during Monday nights game as Kansas City was refusing to even cover this guy! 12 catches, 233 yards and 3 TD's later, I'm sure that this guy alone was enough to bounce plenty of teams out of the fantasy playoffs this year! Honorable Mention- Michael Clayton- This rookie got back on track after one catch a week ago. Clinton Portis- Maybe all that talk about being benched woke him up a little. Tatem Bell- Rueben who?........but now he's injured once again, and out for the year. Duece McAllister- It's about time this guy gets more than 15 carries in a game! Tory Holt- If it weren't for Chandler's 6 picks, who knows what Holt could have had! Maurice Hicks- Yeah that's right, I started this guy in one league! Screw Barlow! Eddie Kennison- Two catches, 2 TD's, that knocked a team out of playoffs in my Viking Turnaround league. FF even further up the Ass candidates.....(Disappointing performers) Jake Plummer- Well it looks like when crunch time comes for fantasy teams, Plummer dissappears for a while. The last two weeks he has had 6 INT's, and 0 TD's. That's not something that all those fantasy owners who have been riding all year like to see. I wonder how many teams out there missed the playoffs due to this guy? Chad Pennington- This guy had a heck of a time against the Steelers "Steel curtain" on Sunday. No TD's, and three picks just isn't what fantasy owners out there were looking and needing from him for the last week of the regular season (or first week of playoffs in some leagues too). Antonio Gates- Are teams finally starting to figure out that they need to stop this guy in order to have a chance to win? Gates only has 4 catches in the last two weeks now because teams are starting to put some attention on this guy. But now since I'm in playoffs in my BAFFL league, teams need to start forgetting about him once again! Roy Williams- This guy has been such a tease for the second half of the season. After a hot start, after getting injured this guy has been nothing but a piece O' poop! Another one catch on Sunday to only prove to those people who keep starting him, to bench his ass before it's too late. Yup, it's too late...... Javon Walker- Just when Smith needed this guy to wrap up the top seed in the BAFFL, Walker let's him down and now has to live with being the #2 seed in the NFC division to yours truly, UMD Haters Club77. Big NFC Championship game next weekend!!! Dishonorable mention: Andre Johnson- Not what I was thinking against Indy's D (3 for 34 yards). Kerry Collins- He's coming back down to reality. Mike Vick- Even more risk and not enough reward for this guy. Eric Moulds- 4 incompletions to Moulds in the end zone, that's makes for a long day... William Green- 5 yards on 11 carries had Browns fans screaming SUGGS! Comments from my leather computer chair..... ***First off, I'd like to congratulate all the teams that made playoffs in any league. It's been a long haul but it has gone fairly quickly throughout the year. ***What in the hell is up with those Buffalo Bills? If I remember right, they have scored over 33 points for the last 4 games now! MaGahee is running the ball pretty well to take a lot of pressure off of old man Bledsoe, and their defense has been playing like I would they would at the beginning of the year. They actually have a winning record now after starting terribly and have a shot at playoffs. Who would have thought?? ***This is about the time when I start talking Viking talk. But since I'm to the point where I know how bad the NFC is and how the Vikes will make playoffs no matter how doggy-doo they play, I'm not even going to waste any more space about this issue. ***You know, I hate to mention this almost week after week but I am just amazed with what is going on in the Big Apple with the Giants. About a month ago they were sitting pretty well, with a winning record. Then they bring Eli Manning in and what happens, they haven't hardly won a game since. After last week's statline of 4 for 18 for 27 yards and 2 INT's, I can't even fathom what Tom Coughlin is thinking at this point. Or is it maybe Archie is looking over his shoulder 24/7? ***San Diego is looking pretty damn good right now. Tomlinson is finally healthy, they picked up McCardell and have Antonio Gates to throw to. Who would have thought at the beginning of the year that this year's Carolina Panthers would be the San Diego Chargers? ***I had a chance to watch most of the Packer/Lion game on Sunday because for one thing, I was playing a team who had Favre, Roy Williams, and Kevin Jones playing in this game. It almost hurt to watch the first half. Both QB's were combined 5-26 passing while Kevin Jones had 23 carries for 118 yards and a TD in the first half. Granted there was a pretty big wind going through Lambeau that day, but it didn't matter as both QB's couldn't pass the ball anyway. ***Lastly, I'd like everyone who reads this article, to e-mail me (cyclone073@hotmail.com) a couple guys that they think were this years busts in fantasy football. Or if you have the time, send me a starting lineup of the stud players for the year as well. I'm just interested in who people are thinking of as it will make things a little easier when I write my end of the year article on bust and studs. Thanks. ***Let's update everyone on how all of my fantasy teams are doing.....or finished Viking Turnaround- I'm 9-5 and finished 2nd in scoring with 128 pts a game. It's a yahoo league where we have one big crappy division (which will change next year). I have the third seed going into playoffs where I play a team that beat me in the championship game last year by one point. I'll be looking for revenge!! BAFFL- I finished 11-3 in this league, 1st in scoring at 127 pts a game. I won my division by tiebraker over Smith by having more points. I play Smith this week for a chance to get to the Super Bowl. Smith, you're going down!!! BIGFFBL- I finished 9-5 and am 4th in points, averaging 108 points a game. I finished tied for the division lead but lost out on the third tiebraker (running divisional total). Not too bad for not having Priest the last 5 weeks. Drobo League- I finished the year 5-8, 6th in scoring with 110 pts a game. I was only one game out of the playoffs as 6 teams make it in. I had quite the injury plagued team to go along with a few high round busts that put a damper on my season. FOFFB- I'm 8-6 and am 5th in the league in scoring with 114 a game. I missed the playoffs in this league by one game as I won the last week but didn't get the help I needed to make it to the playoffs. Overall, I finished 42-27 (61% win percentage) in fantasy leagues that didn't inlcude the auto-pick league. But the thing that I was pleased with was that in every league that I didn't make playoffs, I only missed it by one whole game. Very successful season overall indeed. Obviously next year will hopefully be even better. ***I can't let a week go by without an update on early kickers and early defenses. First kicker taken by JC.....losses to Smith to finish at 7-7 First defense taken by Team Nookie...finished the year 3-11 after losing to his cousin. FF up the Ass winner: Drew Bennett FF even further up the Ass winner: Antonio Gates Next week we'll have a special playoff version of FF up the Ass! So until then..... -Jugs |
