FF up the Ass Week 9 edition The stretch run is here in fantasy football as teams are trying to make that playoff run. It's always important to end the season on a strong note and since anything can happen in fantasy football, you obviously need some luck on your side to seal the deal. This coming week will start our second wave of divisional games, and most likely determine who's going to be in, and out of the playoffs. Overall I had a great week in fantasy football. I ended up going 5-1 last week and I'm in playoff position in 5 of my 6 leagues so far (knock on wood).....and you think that some of you say I spend too much time when it comes to fantasy football.....Just think of this.....I am in position to have a chance for over one grand worth of fantasy winnings this season. Let's see how things pan out there...... I think we also have a Bison sighting in the Husky division.......now onto this week's FF up the Ass candidates....... FF up the Ass canidates.....(stud performers) Michael Pittman: I think it just sunk in that I not only have this guy in four leagues, but I started him in all four of those leagues this past week. Thank god for defenses such as those Chiefs because guys like me are reaping the rewards that Pittman's three TD's and over 150 yards of offense had to give. Anyone out there banging their head against the wall for NOT picking this guy up? Peyton Manning: Well let's see here, after another 4 TD's last week, Peyton Manning is on pace to break Dan Marino's record of 48 TD passes in a season. He's over halfway there with 26 and the amazing thing is that he only has 4 INT's. What a fantasy stud and makes me wonder about the stud QB thoery that people will have for next season. Good luck with that........ Drew Brees: Second week in a row that this guy makes the list. Another four TD's later, people are talking about possible MVP votes going this guys way. Brees is VERY quietly having a great season with 16 TD's and only 3 INT's. What a time for Brees to come on for Team Nookie.....maybe, just maybe he can make something out of nothing this season. Antonio Gates: Another week, another great performance for Gates. I knew that this guy was going to be someone special this year and he is turning into a great TE already in his young career. Think about this....he's on pace for 96 receptions, 1400 yards, and 14 TD's. Will he do it? Who knows with this crazy NFL season. Jake Plummer: We have a third player who has been on this list for two weeks straight. This guy is just on fire right now. I have this guy in three leagues, all the same leagues where I started Pittman, and some wonder why I had a 5-1 week? Yet another guy having a quietly great season with 19 TD's already. Honorable Mention- Santana Moss- Just when he wakes up, Pennington goes down.....ouch Tiki Barber- Having a career season by far......and he's learned to hang onto the ball! Tony Gonzalez- Two straight 100 yard weeks for Gonzo. Shaun Alexander- Week on, week off, week on, week off, week on this week Matt Hasselbeck- see above. FF even further up the Ass candidates.....(Disappointing performers) Duante Culpepper- Is it a coincidence that Culpepper's stats are taking a hit with no Randy Moss? I think not........One more week without Moss isn't what Culpepper owners want to see as they are trying to make a playoff run. It's all about the Law of Averages.....and Culpeppers hot start is now cooling off to frustration for his fantasy owners. Donavan McNabb- Do we have a McSuck sighting out there in Philadelphia? Daniel Graham- Two weeks, no catches. Come on now......He's got to break out this week right? Stay tuned until next year to find out...... Aaron Brooks- I'll never understand how an offense with so much talent, sucks week in and week out. Something needs to change in the Big Easy......anybody have any ideas? Honorable mention: Joe Horn- 2 catches, 21 yards, very nice..... Roy Williams- Maybe he should just sit out until healthy instead of making it worse. Curtis Martin- The J-E-T-S are coming back down to reality. Comments from my leather computer chair..... ***Pittsburgh is starting to be the talk of the NFL. Two weeks in a row where they knock of previously undefeated teams. This team is looking great, but please, hold all the comparision talk of Big Ben to this guy and that guy until he proves that he can make it through the whole season. ***Speaking of the Steelers, I have to give Hines Ward a little credit where credit is due in his little endzone dance, mind you he didn't only do it once, but he hit paydart twice and did it. Talk about a slap to T.O.'s face? I like it, I like it alot. ***How about Da Bears?? They have a guy at QB who probably shouldn't even be in the NFL starting right now in Craig Krenzel, their start RB in Thomas Jones is out for a few weeks, they have no receivers what-so-ever, and they go into the Big Apple and steal one from the New York "football" Giants after being down 14-0 in the first quarter. Just what does that say about the G-men? And more importantly, what does that say about our Vikings?? Yes, that's right, we're in for a long season once again folks..... ***When the hell is St. Louis going to fire Mike Martz? Well hopefully it will be AFTER the season so I can take advantage of Bulger's passing stats while he can still get them. ***Speaking of midseason surprises.....what the hell is going on in San Diego? They are completely coming out of nowhere to be this year's Carolina Panthers. Parity, gotta love it in the NFL (not to mention the salary cap too). ***I've heard plenty of gripes after the Vikes Monday night loss by various people, some just fans, some season ticket holders, and some people who don't really pay attention to football but find a way to bitch when the Vikes lose. It is a given that the Vikes did a crappy job of taking timeouts and all. It is also a given that we had a horrible start to the game. It's also a given that our defense is terrible and couldn't stop Juice from running through the line, but Monday's loss in all reality comes down to the TIME OF POSSESSION. After the bad first quarter, the Vikes actually played pretty well and did what they could, but when you only have the ball for 40% of the game, it's tough to score points. Indy did a hell ova job keeping the Vikes offense off of the field so that we couldn't put up anymore points. ***Let's update everyone on how all of my fantasy teams are doing..... Viking Turnaround- I'm 6-3 and am 2nd in scoring with 130 pts a game. BAFFL- I'm 6-3 in this league , 2nd in scoring at 119 pts a game. BIGFFBL- I'm 6-3 and am averaging 104 points a game.. Drobo League- I'm 2-7 and am sixth in the league in scoring with 107 pts a game FOFFB- I'm 6-3 and am fourth in the league in scoring with 118 a game. Bruce Ciskie Show- I'm 5-4 and am 5th out of 16 in scoring. Overall, I'm 31-23 in fantasy leagues. After a midseason slump in a couple leagues, my teams have started to hit a steady stride in scoring. I'm really not too worried about a few leagues because since my points per game is up there in most of my leagues, I will have tiebreakers. Last week I was eliminated from the playoff race in the Drobo league, but in that league I've had a Team Nookie type year as my top five picks are either injured, or busts on the season. I hung in there for the first 6 weeks but it's starting to kill me now and I'm done in that league, so all I can do is play the spoiler role. ***I can't let a week go by without an update on early kickers and early defenses. First kicker taken by JC.....knocks off LRH to get to 5-4 First defense taken by Team Nookie...scores 147 points to get to 3-6 That's all I have for this week.....may the FFCPI be with you all!! FF up the Ass winner: Drew Brees FF even further up the Ass winner: Daniel Graham |
