 11/02 Open

Personally we're curious. The date of 11/02 is presently open giving Central a nine game season. We know how Coach Crognale has always liked giving his team a week off at the end of the regular season. We're wondering if he will fill this date at a later time OR, assuming that the playoffs are within his grasp leave it open to give his team a week "recovery" time.

PRESEASON PREVIEW

Hmmmmm - An all senior offensive line - A defensive line that consists of sophmores and juniors - TWO SEPARATE UNITS?? - What team in Hernando County could possible have the depth and talent to do that?? - CENTRAL - Thats who!!!

Coach Steve Crognale has designed this team to WIN playoff games, not just "make and appearance" at one. From previous efforts Coach Crognale know what it takes to win once you get past your district and into the state playoffs and this seasons squad has every intention of getting PAST the first round.

With massive seniors T.J. Hedick and "Big" Willie Winslett Jr anchoring Central's offensive line, junior Tim Gaynor can expect to march for over 1000 yards this season and straight into the playoffs. Winslet and Gaynor were listed as two of the top players in the area by the St Pete Times and Hedick, in my opinion, should have accompanied them on that list - WHAT AN OVERSIGHT!!

Granted, Jerry Daniels and his 810 rushing yards and Lance Holland (both of which have moved on to play for Bethune-Cookman) and his 18 sacks are not going to be easily replaced, but not impossible for this group. With the likes of Nick Marty, Jamie McElfresh, and Gaynor back with another year of experience under their belt expect to pack your bags if you want to follow this team deep into the post-season (I already have).

The new district alignment is going to work in the Bears favor with the traditionally weak West Pasco teams taking the place of Citrus County's powerhouses. Anything short of a district title this year would have to be considered a major disappointment for these senior-heavy Bears.

YOU KNOW WE'LL BE WITH YOU GUYS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY - GOOD LUCK TO STEVE CROGNALE, HIS STAFF, AND THE PLAYERS OF WHAT WE EXPECT TO BE THE FINEST BEAR SEASON YET - GOOOOOOOO BEARS!!

Weekly Updates

Week 1
Central @ Citrus

I guess pure talent really CAN overcome all. Poor tackling, penalties and some questional officiating would have handed an opening season loss to a lesser team, but not this Central Bear squad. They're on a "Mission" and rightly so.

Citrus could barely slow down the dominant rushing attack Central used in routing the Hurricanes 34-14. What I see as the best offensive line in the area allowed the Bear backs to tally 345 yards on the ground, 182 of which were collected by junior Tim Gaynor.

Pure power, speed and depth are going to carry this team a long way this year, and when they start playing more "intellegent" ball you're going to see the most devistating team in the area. District opponents are already cringing as Central High approaches on their schedules. I know I can't wait to get at look at this group next week when they host Lecanto on HITV's "Game of the Week".

SHOW US ALL HERE AT HITV WHY YOU'RE SO RIGHTIOUS HIGHLY TOUTED - SEE YA FRIDAY!!!
