1994 FFL SUPERBOWL
Anorexic Toads - 51.5
Brazilian Bruisers - 17.5
MVP:
Sterling Sharpe, 19.5 points
The
1994 Superbowl was fittingly a matchup between the top scoring team from each
division. Both teams had real
quarterback questions coming into this game.
The Toads starting quarterback Randall Cunningham was benched by his NFL
coach despite a pretty good season, and the 2nd-string quarterback
for the Toads, Jeff George, was nuring a very sore broken finger. And thus the Toads gave Bucky Richardson his
ONLY start in FFL history in this Superbowl.
Richardson contributed just three points. The Bruisers had problems of their own-- this should have been a crowning moment in
an MVP season for Steve Young, but the 49ers had already clinched a playoff spot
and BOTH Steve Young and Jerry Rice were to play just ONE quarter of football
on this week. The Bruisers elected to
stay with their dynamic duo anyway, and they scored a combined 8 points. But the real problem for the Bruisers was
that the rest of the team scored less than 10 combined points. The Toads, however, did get plenty of
support. Leading the way for the Toads
was receiver Sterling Sharpe with his 19.5 points… at the end of the 1990’s
this was still an FFL Superbowl record.
Sharpe defeated the Bruisers singlehandedly in this game, and was the
first of TWO Sharpe’s to become a Superbowl MVP for the Anorexic Toads.
