1996 FFL SUPERBOWL
Anorexic Toads - 62
Nukeville Annihilators - 53
MVP:
Steve McNair, 24 points
The
Anorexic Toads had become the first team to make their second appearance in the
FFL Superbowl, and the Nukeville Annihilators had become the first team to make
their Superbowl debut in their rookie season.
These two teams ranked 3rd and 4th in scoring, but
had managed to defy the odds and overcome the teams ahead of them. The Anorexic Toads were led by their
quarterback Steve McNair who scored 24 points in this game and was named the
MVP of the Superbowl as he led the Toads to victory. Derrick Thomas & John Kasay added 9 points apiece to the
effort for the Toads. The Annihilators
lost by a slim 9-point margin in this contest and, to this day, proclaim that
they coached themselves right out of this win… You see the Annihilators played
a couple of hunches by benching Herman Moore and Rickey Watters for this game. Moore & Watters had combined for over
250 points during the regular season for the Annihilators, but they decided to
go in a different direction for this matchup.
That decision will forever haunt this franchise, as BOTH of these players
had solid outings and would have propelled the Annihilators to a Superbowl
victory. Without them… it was the
Anorexic Toads who became the first team in FFL history to win a SECOND time in
the FFL Superbowl.
