| Quarter Pole Downs- As the horse loaded into the gate for the Preakness, second jewl to the Triple Crown, the crown was estatic. The favorite was Derby winner Muhtarram, owned by Quarter Pole Stables. The horses bounded out of the gate, and Jammin took an early lead with Movin' To Mexico and Flashy Miss right behind. In the first turn Can't Beat Starview began to make his move on the inside, but then Jammin fell back boxing him. Classical Charmer made a wild dive on the outside and grabbed first. With four furlongs to go, Muhtarram and Vailent Heart dashed up, side by side. two furlongs away from the wire Muhtarrem flew forward and Vailent Heart and Classical Charmer battled for second. Miracle Boy held onto fourth. Just lengths from the wire, Vailent Heart fell back and Classical Charmer took second, two lengths behind Muhtarram. |
