From denny1@home.com:
Somehow the focal blur doesn't seem right... we're talking about objects which
are light-seconds apart (the biosphere and the far planet). Either the planet
would be completely blurred, or (with infinite focal depth) would be sharp.
Scene could use some more detailing. The sand has obviously been shaped
by the wind, a few large drifts against the biosphere would be likely.
Perhaps some rocks to relieve the monotony.

This interpretation had to come up, but chosing winter is pretty unusual. OK it
is obviously easier to make trees without leaves. But then the ambience is
pretty well rendered and the sphere's colour matches the winter season.
A nice effect.
The ground height field looks a bit too simple in my mind.

I enjoy the way the focus effects made the image look kind of surreal and
dreamlike. I like the colour contrast between the background planet and the
other elements of the scene.

Good concept.

Scene is too blurry.

From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
Good tree and sphere in a nicely composed image. The foreground lacks detail
though, and the focal effect is probably a poor choice because the blurry
planet
looks unreal somehow. Not sure how to fix that, since the focal blur works on
the foreground objects.

The "ground" gives no nod to any reality.
