what is fgm?

fgm (female genital mutilation) is a procedure during which parts of the vulva are removed

it varies from country to country which parts are removed , in some countries clitoris and labia minora are removed and in other countries vagina opening is also stitched to narrow it

in almost all the cases the procedure is done by none medical staff and by using very primitive tools like a razor or even a knife

why they do fgm?

they do it because of  false group of opinions that claim that these parts of the girl are evil and should be cut off

where does fgm take place ?

there are 28 countries that practice fgm all of them are in Africa

                                                                    (the biggest 10 countries in practicing fgm)

what are the medical problems of fgm?

fgm subjects the female to a group of medical problems such as:

1- sexual dysfunction

2- high levels of infertility

3- excessive pain during sexual intercourse

4- high rates of death during delivery for both the mother and the baby

5- difficult menopauses

6- urination pain and and urine leak

7- recurrent urinary tract infections

8- abscesses, dermoid cysts, and keloid scars(hardening of the scars)

9- anxiety and depression and in some cases it leads to psychosomatic illnesses

10- being very aggressive

fgm makes it very difficult for both the man and the woman to reach the sexual satisfaction during the sexual intercourse which leads to the prevalence of sexual frustration

social studies show that fgm is the main cause of drugs addiction among men in fgm countries

also studies show that fgm is the main cause of family violence in these countries

medical  researches say that sexual satisfaction is important for both genders , for men not achieving sexual satisfaction causes some of the following:

1- high rates of death

2- heart diseases and more frequent heart attacks

3- bad fitness levels

4- excessive feeling of pain (esp. headache and arthritis)

5- prostate malfunction and high rates of prostate cancer

6- high possibility of malfunction of urine bladder

7- high rates of anxiety and depression

8- lack of concentration

9- high possibility of impotence

10- compromised immunity

11- it was found that sexual satisfaction enhances smelling
