Subject: Dwelling In The Shadow Of His Wings
Shalom, Boker-tov (good morning),
So we do find a secret to eating well and healthy and the amazing part is that the Lord is so gracious towards His children that, should they even eat anything that is harmful by accident, He would shield them and either point out the danger to them or He would render the danger ineffective in the bodies of His children.
For years I recalled I was consuming large quantities of lobsters, crabs, cockles (half-cooked) and fruit bats when I was a young lad on Christmas Island. I had no idea that all those meat were harmful to my body. To me it was simply FOOD and I ate them as part of my diet. Little did I realize that instead of harming my body, they actually helped to build up the immunity system in my body; I found out later that I had ‘natural’ immunity against the Hepatitis B virus and the doctor who conducted the test on me wanted to know how I acquired it as the number of cases were far and few in between. Indeed the Lord turned the harmful side of those food items into ‘good’ dosages of immunity building in my body.
So what am I saying here? That everyone should go out and eat all those harmful seafood so that the body immunity system could be built up? Of course not! What I am saying is that the Lord does perform miracles and as He wills, He could turn them into blessings for us.

Let me share something amazing about Psalm 91. This psalm, according to the learned rabbis in Israel, has exceptional powers of protection. They believe that if one were to say aloud this psalm seven times in a day, one would receive supernatural protection and deliverance from one’s troubles. Let us study the words in the verses and see all those promises given by the Lord to those who come under His protection.
The Psalm opens with the declaration that the person who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. It is awesome to know that we can come under the supernatural power of protection from God Almighty Himself. Because of the special place that we, as Believers, have in the Lord, naturally we are covered in all directions from all danger and harm.
Verse 3 proclaims that He will deliver us from the snare of the fowler (and the Webster dictionary defines ‘fowler’ as ‘the catcher’ or ‘the hunter’ or ‘the trapper’ of wild bird for food or for sport) and how appropriate for us to know that the bird flu virus is far from the children of God because of His Presence in our lives. The second part of verse 3 also declares that He, the Lord, will deliver His children from the perilous pestilence. No SARS virus can come near His children because He will deliver us from them.
Verse 4 reminds us that the truth in God’s Word shall be our shield and our buckler to ward off all attacks of the evil one. And because of His word in our lives, no terror can cause us fear at night and we would also be protected from the fiery arrows of the enemy (verse 5). Everything around us can be falling apart or breaking at the seams but they cannot harm us because of the Lord in our lives which will cause us to simply stand and watch and recount our blessings (verse 7).
My favorite verse is in verses 9 & 10, “Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you nor shall any plague come near your dwell.” What a promise! What blessings of protection we have simply because we have learnt to make the LORD our dwelling place.
What a great hiding place we have in the LORD. It reminded me of the childhood game that we used to play during our elementary school days called “the mother hen”. She would stand against the preying ‘fox’ who is trying to steal her chicks. All her chicks would be holding onto her back and turning everywhere she turns away from the fox. We are also hiding, not behind the Lord, but under His wings and knowing this gives me much comfort.
This protection that the Lord grants is only for His children and you too can enjoy His divine protection. Have you received the Lord Jesus into your life? I encourage you to do so without further delay - invite Him into your heart and He will immediately come into your life and make it His throne. It is not a difficult thing to do; all that is needed is that you believe and receive Him and immediately you will join the ranks of being children of God the Father.
Jesus died for us so that we can have His eternal life as an exchange. Because He died and took away the punishment for our sins, we need be punished for them again; otherwise that would tantamount to a double jeopardy. Our Father is a Righteous God and He will honor His Covenant with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus loves you so much that He already demonstrated His love for you on the cross. He died that we may have life in abundance.
Pray this simple prayer to invite Jesus into your heart and immediately you will experience His peace coming your way.
Our Heavenly Father, thank you that Your love towards us is so intense that You sent Your only Beloved Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, two thousand years ago to die for all our sin and to be raised from the dead so that we can be forgiven of all our sin and now we are set free.
Lord Jesus, thank you for coming into my heart and making it Your home. Thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit to be my Friend and my Guide and for the constant reminder of my very special position as a child of God the Father. Thank you that as Your child, I can now start enjoying all Your blessings for my life - Divine Healing, Divine Health and Divine Life in You. Thank you also for the wonderful gifts that the Holy Spirit brings along with Him and for imparting those gifts into my life.
Thank you Lord Jesus for all that You had accomplished for us on the cross and because of our faith in You, our Father does not see us as ourselves but in Your righteousness we can now stand before Him, eternally forgiven of all my sin, greatly blessed among all men, a highly favored child of God, deeply loved by the Father and completely protected in the Lord and in the most precious name of Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha’ Mashiah, I pray. Amen.
If you have prayed this prayer for the first time, welcome to the Family of the Father (and it is a very large universal family). It is important that you are not alone facing your personal challenges but that you can obtain good help wherever you are. Why not take the time to find your own local Christian family (local church) and worship the Father together? You will be greatly encouraged when you meet together to worship the Father, for fellowship and for the study of the Word of Christ.
Start receiving the blessings of the Father as you walk with Him in faith. It is your inheritance in Christ and He wants you to start enjoying these blessings right now; you do not need to wait until you reach heaven and there is more from where they come from.
And, my friend, continue to exercise the gift of praying in tongues and with the usage, more gifts of the Holy Spirit will be imparted to you.
The Lord blesses you and keeps you,
The Lord makes His face shine upon you and be gracious to you and all your loved ones,
The Lord lifts up His countenance upon you and gives you His shalom peace. Numbers 6: 24–26
Have a blessed week ahead, Shavrou-tov
Shalom,
Andrew L W Lee
