The Day the Earth Stood Still There was some evil in the universe that he would never be able to stop, the Doctor had always known that. Standing amid the horrified masses, he wished desperately that there was something he could have done. But his hands were tied; this was how history was supposed to progress. It still hurt, though. He felt an intimate connection with humans. The pain and fear they were experiencing now were overwhelming. “Please,” Peri whispered. “Please, let’s get out of here. I can’t-” No one noticed the wheezing sound of the dematerializing TARDIS through the roar of the first tower falling. |
