chapter ten Three days went by before any major revelations were made. Ellie had her first group therapy session with them on Tuesday. Harry cried, Charles cried, Will cried, hell, Ellie cried. Not only were Charles and his sons becoming closer, but also Ellie was growing closer to them, she was beginning to loose control over some of her emotions; and for a psychiatrist, that was not good news. Charles and Harry were mending their wounded bond of trust. Harry nursed his ego and Will was beginning to give up his title of mother. Harry was flying on his own. They all knew that it wasn't going to be an easy flight, at first; but it would get better and he'd find himself along the way. But, by far, the most progress was being made by Will; he and Ellie had had two more excursions into the field, so that he could 'give a shout'. She was beginning to care deeply for him, in a way that she shouldn't. She was beginning to lose trust in herself; and Wednesday night, the dam broke loose. .:. After dinner, Will had slipped her a slip of paper, and whispered that she should wait till she was in her room to read it. So she stuffed it into her pants pocket, and enjoyed the evening movie. When the movie was over, she went upstairs the got ready for bed, forgetting about the note, until she was about to climb into bed. She ran over to her pants and pulled it out of her pocket. Ellie, it read, I need to talk to you about something very important. Please meet me in the stables at eleven o'clock. She looked at her watch; it was five till. She ran to change, but realized she wouldn't have enough time. So she grabbed her bathrobe and slipped on her slippers and ran out to the stables. By the time she had reached the door to the barn she was gasping for breath, and had to lean on the doorframe for support. She looked inside and saw Will down at the end feeding one of the mares a carrot. When she had caught her breath and had composed herself, she stood for a few moments, watching him. He was so gentle, with them, the horses. He rubbed their noses and scratched their ears. He heart ached, she wanted to tell him, tell him how she felt, but she couldn't! She just couldn't! A moment later she walked into the stables. "There you are!" he said, looking up at her. "I was beginning to worry you had forgotten." "I almost did, hence why I'm in my pajamas. I had put the paper in my pocket and forgotten about it when I went upstairs. Sorry." "Don't, you're here, aren't you?" "I guess," she gushed. She was nervous, and it showed. He walked over to her and leaned up against one of the stable walls next to her. "I have to, well, I need to tell you something that I've been wanting to tell you for over a week. But I need you to just listen, not respond yet, all right?" She nodded. "Remember our first night here, when you came into my room and told me that you wanted to tell Harry about why you're here?" She nodded. "Remember how you had thought that I thought that you were going to say something else?" Again, she nodded. "Well, I did, I thought you were going to tell me that you liked me, that you were attracted to me. Because, I like you." She stood there, silent for a moment. "Ellie? Did you hear me?" "I heard you," she whispered. "I heard you loud and clear. And when I went to your room that night my intent was to tell you that I was attracted to you, but at the last second I chickened out." He smiled at her, and moved closer. "You're so beautiful," he whispered, brushing the hair out of her face. Ellie's head was spinning! She had dreamed of this, but in her dreams it never came true. His arms dipped down and encircled her waist. She moved her hands up to his chest. He lowered his head and brushed his lips across hers. He hesitated briefly, before lowering his lips down to hers for a kiss. What had started out simple, light, turned into a passionate, full-blown kiss. Her arms were wrapped around his neck, and he pulled her closer to him, he lifted her off the ground slightly and they kissed. Once the kiss was broken and she was back on the ground; only then did she come to her senses. "Oh my God!" she gasped covering her mouth with her hands. "What? What's wrong?" "I can't do this, Will I can't do this!" "Why?" She pushed his arms away. And began to walk towards the door. "Ellie!" he shouted as he caught up with her. "Why not?" he asked, grabbing her arm. She pulled her arm away. "Because I'm your psychiatrist Will! That's why! There are rules! I could lose my license! Do you understand?" "Who's going to find out? My dad? Who cares! I'm falling in love with you! Do you understand that?" By now, both of them had tears running down their cheeks. "I do, I really do, because I'm not falling in love with you - I'm in love with you. I have been from day one. You make me smile like few people can." "Then don't fight this, please!" He was desperate, and the expression on his face showed it. He looked so hurt; she wanted to cry even more. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" and with that she ran back to the house, he didn't follow her. He stayed behind, and wept. .:. In the morning after a good, hot shower, he dressed and walked down the hall to her room. He knocked softly twice; but there was no answer. He tried and handle and found that it was unlocked. He swung open the door, a smile on his face, and found… back |
