Sometimes when a story takes place is just as important as where the story takes place. Think about stories that take place in the future, as well as in the past. The people act differently, dress differently, even eat differently, don't they?

The 1950's and 1960's in the south was a turbulent, yet important time in American History.

Assignment: Visit these web sites to learn more about the setting of the civil rights era in the south. Imagine you are going back in time, and you need to dress appropriately, eat the right foods, etc. What would your life be like? How would your life be different than it is today?
