Getting Your Work Published

What absolute fun it is to see your own writing in print! Publish your work everywhere! Publish in your classroom, at school, in your community, even all over the world with the power of the internet! Enter contests, too. The more you write, the better you will become at the craft of writing.

There are many opportunities for young people to have their work published. A good place to start is at your own school. Does your school have a newspaper or other publication? Find out. If they don't - maybe you can start one! Another place to try is the local newspaper. The local newspaper will be looking for expository pieces that report on local events. Get a camera and become a reporter! Are there local magazines? Try them, too. If your writing is of high quality, it doesn't matter if you are 10, 20, or 90 years old.

Looking for other places to publish your work? There are several reputable children's publishers that you can try. Here are a few. Remember, don't submit anything without your parent's permission. NEVER send personal information to ANYONE over the internet, or even through the mail, without your parent's full knowledge and permission. Also, be very suspicious of contests that require an entry fee from you. Again, ask your Mum or Pop before you send your work off.

Good luck!
