Cheer dance competition. Literary-Musical contest. Sports events. These were some of the activities that the Filamerian community enjoyed as FCC had its one week of celebration for its 100 years of existence in August. But what really made the centennial celebration a never-to-be-forgotten one?
Most of you would probably say, it’s the Search for Ms. FCC Centennial for most of us are fond of witnessing beauty pageants. But its Coronation Night was not the usual one for it had a twist.

Kick back, read on and find out why…

The Night of Talents…

“Life’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”
This famous line from Tom Hank’s movie- Forrest Gump would probably the last thing on your mind if you were able to witness the talent night of 11 lovely candidates for the Search for Ms. FCC Centennial on August 24.

The talented candidates strut their stuff and showed what they’ve got for the audience to catch a glimpse of them and to witness their unique talents.

Guests, Faculty, Staff and students from the different departments packed the Roblee Hall to root for their bets. Ear-splitting roar and thunderous applause from the audience could be heard every after the performance of the candidates that could boost up one’s energy level.

Various talents were shown. Each of which was done perfectly that you can’t really decide on who would get the Best in Talent award. There was a stomach-churning difficulty dancing, creative modern dancing, sketching, singing while dancing ala pop stars and a couple of others that made a lasting impression on the audience.

Ms. Lindsay Wagner Nolasco from the High School Department stood out from the rest of the candidates that made her bag the Best in Talent award.

“I got these talents from Him,” the tall teener pointed out the image of Jesus Christ that she sketched herself while being blindfolded. The first runner-up in the Search for Ms. High School also did a little lip synchronization ala Ariel in the fascinating The Little Mermaid and did some nerve-bursting difficulty dancing.

Ms. Nolaco was the only chocolate in a box that would easily be picked up for she possesses a unique talent that made her best the other equally talented candidates. She was able to win the crown for she never forgets to thank God for the talents given to her and to share it to everyone.

The Celebration…

‘Proclaiming God’s faithfulness- 100 years and beyond.”
This the theme of Filamer Christian College’s Centennial Celebration for its 100th birthday.
Truly, God has been faithful to Filamer for it continued to bless her in giving excellent education to its students for the development of their intellectual, physical and spiritual aspect of life.
To pay-off God’s faithfulness, FCC threw a big bash of celebration- a celebration that reflected how Filamer molds its students to be prolific individuals in the field of music, arts and education.
The big celebration that made an indelible mark in the memory of the past and present Filamerian students was witnessed during the Coronation Night of the Search for Ms. FCC Centennial.

It was a celebration through music and dance that was participated by the present and alumni students of Filamer. It was also a gathering of the past Filamer beauty queens and successful student alumni that added some color to the show.
There was an all-star overload from the hosts to the entertainers. Breakthrough performances of some student alumni- Rhea Lopez, Reynaldo Acol, Greg Yotoko, Richard Balgos, Genesis Ambrocio, Cyrus Casandra and talented students with the Court Jester Band playing in the background filled the night with cool music. Some members
of the Faculty and Staff also graced the show.

Guest hosts who happened to be the presentors of the performers and awardees during the Coronation Night kept the flames burning. They were the past Filamerian beauty queens, student achievers and prominent student alumni. The Filamer Dance Troup also made the celebration complete in giving lively performances.
The success of the celebration was not possible if not for the extreme efforts of the organizers of the show, sponsors who helped out and the Filamerian community.

The Verdict for the Beauties…

Before the final 3 was revealed, minor and major awards were first given. Ms. Sarah Domingo from the AB Department bagged two awards- Ms. Personality and Ms. Congeniality for her great personality and friendly disposition while Ms. Rei-ann Rebaño from the COMMAC Department was the Ms. Photogenic. Ms. Jinky Bolaño from the HRM Department got the Ms. Creamsilk and Ms. Ponds awards courtesy of the Unilever Philippines which was one of the sponsors. Nursing candidate Ms. Whyngeline Alvarez bagged the Best in Long Gown and two minor awards- Ms. Close-up and Ms. Facial Plus. Ms. Grazl Tupaz from the College of Education got the Best in Interview award for having the best answer during the preliminary interview in the morning of August 27.

The Fab Three…

Students from the Education, Nursing and High School Department sprang to their feet after their candidates made it to the final three- Ms. Grazl Tupaz (Education Department), Whyngeline Alvarez (Nursing Department) and Vera Liane Rea Lugtu (High School Department).
The Candidates were again given questions to be answered but it was the reigning Ms. High School- Vera Liane Rea Lugtu’s answer that won the thumbs of the judges and the audience.
“We are true Christians,” the 5’6’’ tall lass responded after being asked about what would she be proud of as a Filamerian.
Ms. Whyngeline Alvarez was the first runner-up while Ms. Tupaz was the 2nd runner-up for the said pageant.

Perhaps, Ms. Lugtu won the crown for she’s the picture-perfect of a true blue Filamerian with a beauty, brain and Christian.
