Composer: Randy Edelman

Randy Edelman is a composer who has a full bag of catchy themes. Just when I think I have enough of his scores, and a little tired of his style, he hits me with this good one again. For the past year, I have gotten many of his scores. However, a lot them have the very same tone/style that Gettysbury has. For example, Angels in the Outfield, Tall Tale, Dragonheart, and Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. They are all good scores but just sound a little close. Sometimes I confuse with which theme belongs to which score. I was a bit skeptical before I got this soundtrack. But it turns out that my concern was wrong. Gone Fishin' still has his own unique sound but is a little different than the others. The main theme "Gone Fishin'", again, is an very catchy and playful theme. I personally think it is much more enjoyable than many other of his themes. There are parts in the theme that reminds me a lot of his theme to McGyver, one of the greatest TV themes of all time. If you like the McGyver theme, you probably will love this theme a lot too. There are a lot of great tracks on the album. "Speed Boat Race" and "Airboats" are being my favorite. The music style is in between Angels in the Outfield and While You Were Sleeping. The length of each track is short but it does not disturb the flow of the score. It is filled with fun motifs and cues. This is a highly enjoyable score and I recommend it to everyone. Edelman's fans have no excuse to miss this one. | |
