Composer: Hans Zimmer
Total Time: 33:44 Score: 30:43 Availability: *** Rating: **** |
This score is definitely another favorite Zimmer score of mine. Although the movie is about child abuse, this surprisingly "happy" score will give you no hint about the subject of the movie. This score is extremely melodic. There many catchy melodies combine with Zimmer's vintage rhythm. (It is interesting that there is some kind of Broken Arrow rhythm going on at the end of the first track.) The arrangements of the score is excellent too. The use of pan pipes and harmonica is brilliant. Although the children choir may sound a little annoying in one part, it doesn't bother me that much. Once you start playing in your stereo, I guarantee that you will play it and whistle along with it again and again, especially the pan pipes part. There are several themes in the score. One is a childish playful theme, another is a rather heroic triumphant theme, and there is one especially for the pan pipes. Although the score is presented with three long tracks (10min, 7min, and 13min), it does not really matter. It is because every minute of this score is enjoyable. There is no reason that you want to skip any part of it. Also, it contains the song "The Name Game" performed by Shirley Elliston (a really catchy song!). This CD is becoming hard to find in the market but it is well worth hunting for. | |
