| Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express 5, unfortunately, are the best in the respective categories of browsers and email clients, for the Mac, or at least before OS X ships. Micro$oft's Macintosh division has actually been doing a good job lately, in attempting to create Mac-like feel to their app's, if not stable. IE knocks out Netscape cold when it comes to user interface, and OE... well, you get used to it. At least they're free... | |

| Dome Wars is a classic tanks-shoot-up-ammo-and-try-to-destroy-each-other type of a game, for up to 10 players in a single Mac. Version 1.5.1 is a Postcard-ware (almost free), and now has the background, speech, and music enabled (but not by default). Be sure to download this midi (option-click the link) and rename it to "Dome Wars Music" and replace the existing one ;) | |
| Avernum 1, 2 and 3 are a trillogy of Role Playing Games by SpiderSoft. They're actually re-makes of the classic Exile series. The games are HUGE and involving, and the gameplay (once you get into it) is as good as any commercial games. You may also like to try out their other games. | |
| CandyCrisis (formerly Skittles 2) is an addictive puzzle game, of the kind which first appeared (I think?) on the SNES as PuyoPuyo. CC features responsive play, advanced graphics, and kewl sound track, making it a classic. The unregistered version disables the two-player mode. | |
| Ambrosia Software makes excellent shareware games for the Mac. Ferazel's Wand is a side-scrolling game with some very kewl graphics effects, Mars Rising is the "hottest shooter to hit the MacOS this century." (that was the last century, and Escape Velocity is a classic... er... its kind of hard to categorise, but try it anyway (I'm waiting for Escape Velocity Nova to come out!). There are tons more games by Ambrosia, they're categorised under Action, Arcade, and Strategy. Be sure to check out the Upcoming section too! | |
