History:
Kuja was created by Garland 24 years ago. Garland was a person left in charge of overseeing the terran sleeping souls, and merging with planets to drain the lifeforce from them. Gaia seemed an opportunity to make it possible to set down Genomes, which were created to hold the spirits of the terrans, on to the world once Terra merged with it, so that the terrans would finally be free to live again. It is not known, what occured with the terrans to drive them into sleep and death, but Garland himself was also made or altered to serve their purpose as he had for a few thousand years. The Genomes, other than Kuja were left souless and stuck in the same ages as they came out of their incubation chambers, around age 8 possibly. Kuja trained and learned magic as well as studied Gaia, formulating the best plans he could to deal with the planet in allowing Garland's will to carry through. However, he had a fear for life that made his mission more difficulty. Garland had done him the pleasure of letting him know that in the end, when the genomes were transported and Terra had successfully merged with Gaia, that Kuja as well as them would gain Terran souls. Kuja could not stand the thought of losing his life and tried various means of changing Garland's mind, but his part was cast and there was no way out of it. He moved on to Gaia and by unknown knowledge befriended dragons. He had a large connection to spirits as well. He endeavored to become a profitable businessman as well, doing lucrative and secure business with the Kings Auction and other sights in Treno, as well as in other areas less mentioned. Kuja then set into motion the rest of his plan. At one time, around 10-12 years ago, he was at Madain Sari with Garland and it was destroyed, killing the Summoners there. Garland saw them and the Eidolons as a threat where as Kuja saw it as a positive thing. He also decided to use the Mist, a byproduct of the Iifa Tree that was being spread by the terran tree through its roots to cause negative emotions in people. He made arrangements with Dali, a small town near Alexandria, to make Black Mages, and set them to work. One of the early shipments of Black Mages to Alexandria failed to reach its destination; Vivi, who had fallen off of one of the first airships. Kuja then convinced Queen Brahne into attacking Burmecia and her forces decimated the region. She also furthered her attacks, utilizing Kuja's black mages. A woman named Hilda, wife of Regent Cid, got tired of her husband skirt chasing so she turned him into an oglop and stole the very ship named after her "Hilda Garde". Soon after, Kuja kidnapped her and acquired the vessel to do his own operations in...passing it to Queen Brahne. He had assistants remove the Eidolons from Princess Garnet til Alexandros, and gave the Queen power over them, in which she utilized it in her next attack, decimating the area with Bahamut. She then attacked Kuja at the Iifa Tree with Bahamut and he took control over the Eidolon, after merely getting a small wound, and destroyed the Hilde Garde vessel, and killing the Queen. He then left the area to continue his plan. Kuja had a sand castle that the group also had to find, and he captured them, forcing Zidane to go on a mission and retrieve artifacts for him so he could continue with the idea of merging the worlds. Zidane returned to find his friends safe, and they escaped with the mirrors of elements. To go to Terra the group placed them at their locations in shrines and it worked to Kuja's benefit, for he wanted to upset Garland's power, thus allowing him to live. Garland told Zidane the truth of his relation to the Terrans, and that he was Kuja's younger brother. Kuja, angered and jealous that Zidane would retain his soul, even as Kuja lost his, kidnapped the youth as a child and placed him on Gaia, in an attempt to make himself for useful and to endure. He, however did not kill Zidane, and this brought him back to Terra now, in which then he confronted Garland in the attempts to stop him from his plan. Kuja, meanwhile, took the opportunity to drain the souls from the Invincible that were pulled there from the Iifa tree, and merged them to himself, saying that they were more than happy to go with him to be free of the fate that awaited them under Garland. He then confronted Garland and kicked him off a ledge, killing him, after Zidane and his friends had successfully defeated him. Garland then informed Kuja that this victory was empty, for Kuja would die soon, being only a temporary position in the larger scheme of things. Kuja flipped and then destroyed Terra, after Trancing when he fought Zidane. Zidane and crew escaped with the genomes on the Invincible, where as Kuja destroyed the remnants of Terra and disapeared. He then went to Memoria to destroy the life crystal, which supported the souls of the dead and living and was bound to gaia, figuring if he could not live no matter what, then no one else deserved that privelege either. Zidane was led by Garland to face off Kuja and stop him, even as he and the others faced memories of their pasts. Kuja fought Zidane this last time and knowing he would be defeated by the group, he casted Ultima on himself and them, after the crystal was cracked and he disapeared. After his disapearance Necron appeared..the death side of the crystal in entity form, and determined that if Kuja, a being of life, could make the decision that all should die, then it was time for Necron to carry out such a task. Determining that fear leads to anger etc in the Star Wars fashion, all people in the end truly wanted others to die. Zidane and 3 others fought against Necron, with the power of the other members' life energy and defeated the being, forcing it back to the crystal. Afterwards, they were teleported by a dying Kuja from the tree to where Regent Cid awaited them. Kuja then sent Zidane a mental farewell, and Zidane, unable to let Kuja remain if there was any chance he could live, returned, realizing he was the one who had teleported them out of the region. He entered the Iifa tree even as it attacked and found Kuja, dying. Kuja and him exchanged some words of understanding and Kuja told him that he basically had not known what it was like to truly live until the moment he was in now. Kuja then presumably died, and Zidane remained with him, and the Iifa tree sealed the two in.
