A memorable season for a player who worked so hard to establish himself and then become a star.
After being offered nothing more than a tryout over the 1997 preseason, Woewodin completed a fairytale story last season when he won the game's highest individual honor. His Brownlow Medal victory put the stamp on an outstanding season in which he amassed 554 disposals and took his running game to an even higher level. Won his club's best and fairest and while he would dearly have swapped everything for a premiership medallion, he will remember the 2000 season for a long, long time. A fine team player, Woewodin was also voted Melbourne's best clubman. Finished a long season by representing Australia against Ireland in the International Rules Series. Has played 94 games in succession since his debut in 1997 and sets a fine example both on and off the field.
