Gourry Gabriev was a mercenary for hire until the faithful day he "saved a young girl" from a group of bandits, that girl was Lina Inverse. Gourry not one for magics, he sticks to the simple things such as his trusty sword. That and Gourry's head would explode if he tried to understand magic, yep you guess it good looking but dense as a brick (a 50 pound brick, no make that cinder block). Gourry is pretty much the brute force of the slayers team, which is all he is really good for. He is very kind, helpful, and an all around good guy. He is the only one of the group who has a chance of out eating Lina. He is also the descendant of the swordsmen of light Rowdy Gabriev, who as we learned in the movie was a great sage as well, unlike Gourry. |

Gourry is always following Lina (he would follow her into the depths of hell). As we learn later on in the series Lina and him are suppose to be a couple (Thanks Hajime Kanazka NOT!!). I would rather think that their relationship is more brother/sister like than romantic *ralph!!* *Webmaster proceeds to puke his guts up at the thought of it*
Webmaster's Notes: As we learn in the movie it is only because Lina goes back in time and saves Gourry's mother from the demon Joyrock, that Gourry exists to this day.
