Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova
This is Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova (Wheeeew, what a name). Martina is the princess of Zoana, a kingdom mainly known for the book of Zoana. She is also the first and only follower of the Monsterous Zoemalgustar (a monster she created herself). We first meet Martina in Slayers: Next when she and her father try to kidnap Amelia to start a war. Well, at first it seemed like Amelia had the day won until Martina called in the back up squad, namely Zelgadis Greywords. (Yes, Zelgadis was working for Martina and the qouted "Evil doers" at one time. That and Martina had developed a crush on our stoic chimera friend for this episode.) Soon though Lina Inverse showed up and the tide looked to turn against the father, daughter duo. They tried to play their last trump card and sent Zel to deal with his former compainions. After confronting Lina Zel stated that, "I am now working for this kingdom as long as they don't betray me I can't break my promise. Lina...I'm going to have to kill you."


Crush strikes again!

At first it looked like we were back to square one with Zelgadis and Lina's relationship, but Lina was able to turn the tide. Lina informed Zel that the book he was after was a fake. Inraged by the betrayal he turns on his employers and helps to defeat Martina. (Which means Lina blew Zoana castle to bits with a Dragon Slave. Oh well, on the bright side, the extra labor of rebuilding the castle should do the economy wonders.) After that confrentation Martina vows to get revenge of Lina anyway she can. After many a mishap with Martina's revenge plot, she decides just to go with the group not fight them. At the end of Next, Martina marries Zangulus and they become the ruling couple of Zoana (which is still a great big pile of ash thanks to Lina).

Webmaster's Notes: Martina is a big case of comic relief on legs. Her antics are funny to watch, but some times it's a little to much. Especailly the constant babbling about Zoemalgustar no matter how many times it has been proven a fake. Martina is also infatuation city, she falls in love with just about every male character in the Slayers series (Zelgadis, Gourry, Xellos, and then finally Zangulus). Martina starts to lose her craziness a bit when the last couple of people she trusts turn out to be monsters (Xellos who she had a crush on, and Hellmaster Phibrizo who she thought was a nice little boy, man was she wrong).
