A long time ago, in a land far away, lived a little dragon named Frizzle.
One day Frizzle was helping his grandma in the garden. He watched a worm crawl in and out of the warm soil until he thought of something.
"Grandma, where do worms go when I can't see them?"
Grandma Dragon considered the question for a minute and then answered, "They have worm-houses deep in the dirt where they sleep."
Frizzle thought about this and watched the worms very closely.
"But where do they play Grandma?"
"They play out here in the sun and the dirt, just like you do Frizzle." She said.
"Oh." answered Frizzle.
When the sky started to get dark, Frizzles grandmother said it was time to leave the garden. When they were at the mouth of the cave Frizzle asked, "Where does the sun go at night Grandma?"
"The sun goes to sleep, so that he can shine more brightly tomorrow."
"Then what's that big white thing in the sky?" Frizzle pointed to the big white circle in the sky.
"That's the moon." answered Grandma.
"What's the moon do?"
"Well, she watches over everyone; especially little dragons."
It was time for Frizzle to go to sleep, but Frizzle wanted to know more. He had questions about everything, and Grandma Dragon was beginning to wonder if he would ever run out of questions. She was starting to run out of answers when Frizzle asked just one more question.
"Why do I have to go to sleep Grandma?"
"When little dragons go to sleep, they do something very important Frizzle. When you ate your vegetables today in the garden and played in the sunshine, you made growing vitamins. The growing vitamins help your body grow, but only when you're asleep. That's why you need to go to sleep every night."
"So I can grow big and strong like Papa Dragon?" Frizzle asked.
"Just like Papa Dragon." agreed Grandma. Then she kissed him goodnight and blew out the candle.
"Goodnight Frizzle." She whispered, but Frizzle was already sound asleep.
