
1-1/2 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons dry milk
2-1/4 cups white/bread flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon bread machine or quick active dry yeast
Measure ingredients carefully and add according to the order recommended by your bread machine. Select Whole Wheat or Basic/White cycle. Use Light or Medium crust. Do not use delay cycles. Remove baked bread from the pan carefully and allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
NOTE: Because I like a soft bread with a soft crust, I used one cup of 2% milk and 1/2 cup water instead of just water. I also kept the dry milk in the recipe and it came out just fine.
