Slack attack

Zany comedy duo Frank Woodley and Colin Lane are back with a new, off the wall, stage show for the Melbourne comedy festival.

TV WEEK: Why did you call the new standup show Slick?

L&W: Because we wanted to be more professional, but it would have been more appropriate if we called it Slack.

TVW: Why's that?

L&W: We've built a solid 14-year reputation for performing under rehearsed songs. People find us funny for trying so hard, but we're really just slack! But seriously, in order to look that bad we have to rehearse and it requires incredible skill to look as crappy as we do.

TVW: What makes you different from other comediennes?

L&W: Well you can have these smarty pants doing topical stuff about world issues and telling great jokes. But to be hit with a cricket bat in the head every night takes commitment.

TVW: Who hits who?

L&W: I hit Frank with a cricket bat every night and sometimes more so if he's annoying me.

TVW: Will there be a third TV series?

L&W: We've written some scripts and we're happy with them. We hope to be making the series around the middle of the year.

TVW: Where do you get your outrageous ideas from?

L&W: It's weird! They come from Frank's real life experiences- like the time when Frank locked his keys in the car when it was still running. He waited two days for the petrol to run out.
