FM-3 TEMPORARY RESIDENT REQUIREMENTS VISITANTE RENTISTA · FM3, is a Temporary Resident Visa required if you are planning   to either rent or buy a house in Mexico. · It is good for one year, renewable every year up to four years. · Retired citizens from the United States and from any other   countries living in Mexico, should have an FM3.

1. Valid Passport (two photocopies of signature and picture page) or Birth certificate (two copies)

2. Tourist Visa (FMT) (at Immigration Office) cost: $170.00 pesos to be paid at any bank.

3. Lease Contract or some proof of residence such as phone or electric bill (original and copy)

4. Marriage Certificate (if married) - original and two copies

         a) Apostille by the Secretary of State
             1350 Front Street
             San Diego, CA (Monday through Thursday)
         If married outside of California, contact the Secretary of State of that State.
         This item is not required if the husband and wife each have an income in
         access of the minimun for an individual.

5. Four front view and four right side profile black and white or color pictures,
     without glasses. No automatic machine or polaroid photos will be accepted.

6. Verification of Income. - Original and 2 copies

         a) Letter from the bank that proves a minimum monthly deposit of
            $1,000.00 dollars and $500.00 per dependant, stating the source.
            This letter does not have to list your actual income, but can state that your
            income meets or exceeds the necessary minimum.
      OR
         b) Copies of your bank statements for the last 3 months that proves your
            monthly deposit covers the amount stated above. This requires a signed
            letter from applicant stating that the attached documents show they have
            the minimum deposit required.
      OR
         c) Copies of your Annual Social Security Benefit Statement.

         Verification of income MUST be:
            1) NOTARIZED
            2) CERTIFIED BY THE COUNTY RECORDER

            3) APOSTILLE .- by the SECRETARY OF STATE
               1350 Front Street, San Diego, CA. (Monday through Thursday)

7. Application form filled out completely. Original and 2 copies

8. $839.00 pesos (for the year 2000) paid in cash to Banco del Ejercito.

Your FM3 is good for one year. Renewals should be done 30 days prior to expiration.
