These arrows are my attempt at replicas of the finds from the Mary Rose wreckage (c1554). The shafts are barreled ash. They are fatter in the center and
taper towards either end. The nocks have 2" wedges of horn cut and glued into place to reduce the likelyhood of the arrow splitting
from the force of the string. The fletches are white turkey primaries 4.5" in length and bound with irish linen. The surface of the steles
(shafts) was treated with linseed and tung oil.
The arrow bag is based on an illustration from around 1777 drawn by an antiquarian in the Bodlein Librrary, and a multitude of similar leather disks found at the Mary Rose wreckage. The bag is linen with a rigid leather spacer in the middle. Medium: Ash wood, feather, horn, linen
