This is not based on any extant example, but of a custom piece made by Tod's Stuff (tm) in the U.K. I wanted a similar razor for use at events that would be more period then my Gillette Mach3. I disassembled a 1950's straight razor and made a paper pattern. I cut the new scales (handle) from sheet stainless. I made spacers and peened rivets out of stock brass.
The box is from a craft store, dyed dark walnut and varnished. A tooled leather insert of 3 panels was added to the top. Left most panel depicts the Atlantian ensign and the words "Dulce et Pulchrum est pro patria mori" (it is sweet and beautiful to die for one's homeland). The middle is my personal badge (3 escallops conjoined in annulo) on a semi of arrows (badge of the Order of the King's Missiliers). The right most panel is a mermaid holding a spear (representing the household) with a banner and the words "Haud victoria sine humilitas" (No victory without humility). Note that if you drop the H and U from Humilitas you get the word "militas" which is latin for soldier.
