If Domon's most valued weapon - not including Psychic Devices - is his brute strength, Fuuko's most important assets are her intelligence and agility. In the story, Fuuko and Recca have been friends ever since they were children, and ever since then, they have been fighting (just like he and Domon right before), since Fuuko wanted Recca to be her ninja. Unfortunately, she never managed to win. She still wanted to continue fighting with Recca, but by then he had already declared that Yanagi was his "Princess", and he her Ninja. Needless to say, Fuuko was very angry because she thought that Yanagi had defeated him (Like real!^_^) and wanted to get her revenge. She wanted so badly to defeat Recca that Kagerou managed to take advantage of this and gave her the Fuujin.When she received the Fuujin, Kagerou had placed a gem in the middle of it that would take over her mind, because she (Kagerou) was preparing Recca for the future fights against Kurei. (At that time, Recca and the others thought she was evil, since she kept pitting people against Recca, and it seemed that she wanted to kill them all.) I'm not explaining very well... what I meant was that Kagerou knew Kurei would be coming after Recca and his friends, and therefore she pretended to be a villain, forcing Recca to fight against his future friends so as to make him stronger. Anyway, back to the story...

Luckily, Recca managed to destroy the gem controlling her mind, and Fuuko even made friends with Yanagi. Unlike Yanagi, who seems to represent your typical "damsel in distress" in the story, Fuuko is completely the opposite. But in some ways, she and Yanagi have something in common.

The Fuujin enables her to control the wind currents be it whether for defensive or offensive purposes. Fuuko is able to use the Fuujin in different ways by changing the central gem with other elemental gems. Originally, she had no central stone at all since it had been lost when Kagerou obtained it, and Recca destroyed the mind controlling gem. (And a good thing too! Otherwise we would have had a funeral to end the show at episode 3! ^_^)

I personally think Fuuko is one of the coolest characters in FoR, in fact, she's my favourite character! (I guess I like her most because I'm a girl, and my favourite characters are usually girls, but hey, you've got to admit that she's amazing!) She does have her bad faults though. Like Recca, she also boasts about her her abilities sometimes, but not as much. Although she thinks she is not pretty at all, I think she is. (*sigh* she has it all. Beauty, brains, wonderful fighting skills and a Psychic Device...) Her quote when fighting Reiran Katashiro comes to mind here: " People always told me I wasn't ladylike enough. I was such a tomboy. My body was always covered in bruises. I wasn't pretty. But... that is who I am." Not a direct quote, but something along those lines. Even though she thinks she isn't pretty, never EVER call her ugly! She'll beat you up if you do! ^_^ Fuuko likes to wear clothes like jeans, shorts and bicycle pants, with blouses and shirts. Although she does sometimes wear pretty revealing stuff, I'm sure it's not on purpose. As aforementioned, she thinks she isn't pretty and doesn't have a good figure, so I guess she's a little naive in thinking those clothes don't make her, ahem, pleasing to look at to the opposite sex. (No offensive meant if you're male) I mean, if she can actually get Fujimaru to form a fan club for her... brrr. That man is one of the ickiest guys in FoR! *shivers*
Anyway, IMHO, I think that Fuuko is one of the best characters in FoR. Some may disagree, some may not, but whatever you think, Fuuko is definitely one character you can't ignore.

Interesting Facts:

1) Fuuko's hair is brown and not purple in the manga.

2) Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that Tokiya is friendlier towards Fuuko than the others. (Not counting Yanagi or Kaoru) He's usually seen standing beside her, (maybe it's just that he absolutely can't stand Recca and Domon. ^_^) and she's the one who usually talks to him. She's the only one I know who calls him Tokiya - only one of his friends, I mean, Kagerou etc. don't count. Neither does THINKING of his name but not saying it. (Oh all right, I know that the others sometimes do, but she was the first to start. Happy now? =p) -, Recca just calls him Mikagami. She even hugged him in the Dark Martial Combat Tournament once! (Although it was probably because she was so happy about his victory) I'm not saying there's anything going on between them, just commenting that he seems to have more respect for Fuuko than the others, probably since she usually doesn't do stupid things. (Note the USUALLY. *grin*) (By the way, I happen to be a fan of the Fuuko/Tokiya pairing [as well as Fuuko/Raiha], so that might explain what some people may call "reading too much in the character's actions" LOL.)*

3) There DOES seem to be something going on with Raiha and Fuuko, however. The show drops a few hints here and there. If you look closely, you'll surely notice it. The fact that they have matching devices, he saved her from drowning, all that sort of thing.

See? Earlier in the show, Tokiya wouldn't even have shown any reaction at all. And Fuuko is one of the few who can talk to him like that and not get an icy glare. ( But I guess it could be because only Fuuko has the guts to do that... [ I've got to stop being so negative! ^_^])
