Countdown to the concert was at hours now. Sarah was so hyped. She was going to get to see Creed and NOTHING was getting in the way. This one one of her sources of happiness right now. Listening to their music filled a hole in her heart. Sarah was nervous and tried to calm her stomach. "What am I going to wear?" She tore through her closet several times and finally decided on a cute shirt and her favorite pair of jeans. "Mom, where are my jeans?" She yelled to her mom. "Which ones?" "My JEANS, you know?" Sarah gave her mom a "DUH" look. "Oh, yeah. THOSE jeans." Her mom laughed and went to the laundry room. Sarah took a shower and got dressed. Her nerves were going nuts after her shower. "Just calm down." her dad said. Sarah rolled her eyes at him. He didn't understand. ***************** Sarah was going early to the venue with several friends. They were hoping to catch the tour busses coming in. Her friends were all acting goofy on the ride to the show. They were smiling and laughing too much. Sarah just figured that they were hyped like her. Sarah stared out the window and had "Higher" running through her head. They pulled into the venue and Sarah took a deep breath. She was hoping to catch a glimpse of the tour busses. Her friends all piled out of the car. They kept smiling big at Sara. "Why are you guys so goofy today?" She asked. They all looked at each other. "Should we tell her now?" One of her friends said. Sarah looked back and forth between friends. "We have a surprise for you." Sarah got a weird look on her face. "We came early today because you are going to get to meet the band." All of her friends smiled. They knew how much Creed meant to Sarah. She smiled and then broke down crying. In broken speech, in between sobs, she said,"You.....g-g-g-uys are so n-n-n-ice. I am so-so-so- glad to have you as friends." She then realized that she would be meeting Creed and that she was crying. "OHMIGOD" Sarah stopped crying and wiped off her face. Her friends laughed and they made their way into the venue. Sarah's knees were trembling as she walked toward the venue. Her one friend was walking with her. "Are you OK?" Sarah nodded. She had several thoughts running through her head. She was thinking that she did not deserve to meet Creed. She was thinking that she did not know what to say when she met them. Sarah smiled when she thought about Mark Tremonti and finally getting to say thank you for the music he wrote. They entered the venue and met with a representative from the promotions company. Sarah was looking all around the place. She was MORE nervous now than when she left her house. The representative led them to a back room in the venue. Sarah's friends all chatted back and forth. One of her friends leaned over and asked what she was thinking. "I am thinking about the song "Wash Away Those Years." She smiled meekly. Her friend put her arm around her shoulders. "We knew that Creed means a lot to you and you mean a lot to us, so that is why we did this." Sarah nodded. "I am so nervous." Sarah looked over at her friend. "You'll be fine." She squeezed her a little. They were left in a room and told to wait. Sarah's mind raced. She had songs in her head, questions, ideas. She covered her face with her hands and took a deep breath. She heard the door open and left her face hidden. Her friend touched her side. "Sarah..." Sarah slowly uncovered her face and saw Mark, Scott and Scottie wandering into the room. She held her breath. "I am going to guess that you are Sarah." Scott Stapp said and approached her. He held his hand out to her. She slowly raised her hand and shook his. He smiled at her. "Yes, I am." She timidly said. "Well, we heard that you are like our biggest fan here." He said. That made her blush. "I am not sure about your biggest fan, but I do like your music a lot..." Mark spoke up. "Now, we were told that you are our biggest fan here. I'd probably believe it too." Sarah's mind drifted off and she started to wonder what they had been told about her. "Well..." She quietly said. Mark spoke up again,"Well, we thought it would be cool to meet our biggest fan and get to know her a little bit." He smiled at her and she nearly melted. Everyone chatted for a few minutes. They talked about their favorite songs, how long everyone had liked Creed, what they did for fun, and a lot of non-sence things. Every word they shared made Sarah feel great. She saw Scott S. lean over and talk with her one friend, but she didn't think much about it. Soon, it was time for the guys to go out and get ready for the show. Sarah shook Scott and Scottie's hands and when she came to Mark he reached down and hugged her. Sarah left the room floating. ************ Sarah and her friends went out and found their seats. They were a few rows back and had a nice view of the stage. They watched the opening band with limited interest. They were all still reveling that they had the opportunity to talk with Creed before the show. Sarah was especially happy. She had the chance to talk with Mark and give him a hug. The guys came on stage and started into their set. Sarah was rocking right along with her friends. About halfway into the show, Scott came to the front of the stage and got the audience to calm down. He started to talk about the next song. "Tonight we had the opportunity to meet a very special person." Sarah felt herself turning bright red. "We want to dedicate this song to her, and tell her that she is special. This is one of her favorite songs." The guys started into "Wash Away Those Years." Sarah was stunned. She stood up and sang along with them. Deep down inside she started to believe things were going to be alright. |
