February 2000

A wayward young man ran away from home.  He did not bother to let his parents know where he was.  His father died.  He read abut it in the newspaper and he came home. His mother welcomed him home.  The day came for the reading of the Will.  The family was all gathered together and the lawyer began to read the deceased's Will.  To the great surprise to all present, the Will told in detail of the wayward son and all he had done.  The boy got up in anger, stomped out of the room and was not heard from for three years.  When eventually he was found, he was informed that the Will, after telling of his life, had gone on to bequeath him a considerable sum of money.  He would have saved himself so much sorrow if he had only listened to the reading of the rest of the Will.

Many people only half read the Bible and turn from it dissatisfied.  They do not like to be branded as sinners and enemies of God.  They do not like hearing that "the wages of sin is death." If they would only read on they would find the rest of the story "but the gift of God is eternal life."

Included in the month of February we find Valentine's Day, when we show love for those who mean a lot to us.  May we remember that Love originated with our Creator.  Our Heavenly Father showed us love even when we were yet sinners.  "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Jesus left us these words to live by: "This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you." John 15:12  These are good words to put in our memory bank.

May God bless each and every one of you with his richest blessings!
