Also known as the Fairy or Pygmy Basslet this taxonomical difference
would
appear to be a geographic phenomena, as basslets are from the family
Grammidae.
These are ideal fish for the home enthusiast, being small,
colourful and active, easy to feed
and hardy which makes them suitable for
captivity, and they do well in a reef tank situation.
Their natural diet
includes small crustaceans and plankton but they will take all commercial
foods such as freeze dried and flakes, quite readily.
Pseudoanthias:
Pseudochromis {Includes flavivertex and
fridmani}
Mirolabrichthys:
Territorial by nature but with the provision of lots of hiding places e.g.
nookks and crannies
this should be kept to a minimum. Aggressive towards
conspecies as a rule therefore best
kept singly or as a mated pair. A small
shoal will eventually produce a female so sexing is
not a problem.
Listing all of the species in this family is too much so I have confined my
list of families.
Full listing of each family can be made available if you
wish, simply e-mail me.
