Apanasana(Knee-to-Chest Pose)

Apanasana(Knee-to-Chest Pose)

This pose is focused on the waist downward and can be used with some additional moves such as a supine twist and an abdominal curl. We are going to review the Knee-to-Chest Pose without added poses.

The Knee-to-Chest Pose is done while lying on your back. First, take a breath in and the exhale while bringing your thigh toward your chest. Straighten the left leg on the floor, flexing the foot, tightening the top of the thigh and press out with the heel. Try to tighten the hold as though you were hugging your knee and try to hold for several breathes. Next, alternate and do the other leg.

Knee-to-Chest Pose

Benefits: Tones the abdominals, range of motion in the hip joints, stretches the lower back, and lengthens the hip flexors.
