by Alejandro Almenabar,

In a house of the English countryside, a woman moves
in with her two children, waiting for her husband to come back from the
Great War battlefield. Soon the children report events that affect her fragile
sanity in this deserted place.
In a story that is strongly inspired by Henry James'
tale "The turn of the screw", we witness how two children are
suddenly the chosen "preys" of supernatural apparitions.
As the story goes, mysterious ghosts appear
to the children, and affect their mother's perception of the house where
they have moved in. The director creates holes in the story, we are reduced
to watching te film the way it is, even wondering why some lines are left
unexplained.
It is only at the very end of the movie that the full story unfolds, and
reveals the complete picture.
A must see.
