Historical Information

Date Built: 1906

Any Notes or Special Historical Events:

J. Cary Thompson, one of Five Points most prominent developers, built these houses with identical floor plans and put them on the market around 1906. Harry C Flemming purchased the house on the main page. The area was still considered remote and at the time his daughters said that is was like moving to the country, recalling that one "could hear the owls at night." These homes are located in Anderson Place, circa 1905. Roughly bounded by 14th and 16th Avenue and 16th and 18th Street. Anderson Place is one of three local historic districts in our neighborhood. J. Cary Thompson also lived in a Tudor Revival style house in Anderson Place at 1631 15th Ave S. (the house facing 17th Street and intersects 15th Avenue).
