I would like to make this very clear - This is not the definitive page for blood-letting techniques! If you are really serious about drawing blood, I strongly suggest that you go to one of the Donor websites, or somewhere that lists detailed instructions regarding blood-letting. This page is merely to give you an idea of what to do, and not do. Everything on this page is, to the best of my knowledge, completely true. If, however, you can prove that something is untrue, or you have concerns on a particular point, or you wish to add something, please e-mail me. |

(1) Always use correct surgical tools, such as a scalpel for making the incision. Make sure that the tool is properly sterilised, using hot water if nothing else is available. A gentle cut, just enough to break the skin should be sufficient. Going deeper, you risk causing some serious damage. (2) Always perform the incision in a well-ventilated, hygenic atmosphere such as the kitchen. (3) Always treat the cut once finished - Rub in some ointment, and cover it with a plaster to prevent infection. This should be done even if you are in the habit of repeatedly cutting in the same area. (4) Try not to cut the same area repeatedly - It can leave a scar. (5) Never cut a major artery, such as the inside of your wrists, or your jugular. If you are usnsure where your major arteries are, check a medical book. This is important! (6) The best places to perform the incision are: 1. On the fleshy base of your palm, right below the thumb. 2. On the shoulder (Avoiding the muscle, which is quite close to the surface). 3. On the fleshy part of the thigh. (7) Never experiment with cutting techniques, or cutting areas, unless you are completely sure of what you are doing. (8) Always be ready to call for an ambulance should an accident occur. And make sure to have an excuse ready - In many places blood-letting is illegal. |
