Jaime and Cheech's Americade trip

June 10, 2000

I arrived at the State Police Barracks at Si, Si, Si, SSSSSIx o'clock in the morning to find Jaime waiting for anyone who wanted to join him on this little stone's throw of a ride to Lake George.

When I arrived Jaime announced that he was now WIDE awake. This is because I was wearing a gray T-shirt, my vest with colors (of course) and a pair of light sweat pants that were multicolored black, white and HOT PINK. He said they were loud

("Loud Pants Saves Lives?").

I wore them because the weather guy said it was going to be 96 degrees and I wanted to stay cool. Well little did I know the fashion statement I was going to make when I arrived at Lake George to find all these rough tough bikers wearing their heavy blue jeans and heavy black boots and here I am with multicolored sweat pants and getting death stares from EVERYBODY.

The temperature reached 91 degrees. Most of the vendors were still there and Jaime had a good time watching me spend my money. I got a wind screen for the bike (Memphis Fats) at half the price of Yamaha's wind screen and you can't tell the difference between the two (sorry Harlan, the windscreen was needed after the ride to Lake George with the wind hitting me at almost 80 miles an hour! My neck was killing me from trying to keep my head up).

I bought a BUTT BUFFER. Yep that's right: a Butt Buffer. It's a neat little thing that fits right on top of your seat and is very comfortable on long rides.

The weather was great for the ride. We took the Taconic State Parkway which was very scenic. I spent most of my time trying to keep up with Jaime (that man can ride). We had lunch at a little Cafe (if I remember correctly it was called the Bay Street Cafe) owned by friends of Jaime's and then we checked out some of the demo bikes (BMW, Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda). Most of them where closing up shop as it was close to 3 O'clock so we decided to head home.

I exited at the Mt. Vernon exit off the Cross County Parkway to visit a friend who owns a beverage store and Jaime continued home. It was a fun day and a great ride.

Harlan where were you??
