This photograph was published by the International Library of Photography
in a book titled "A World of Memories"(ISBN: 1-892731-10-X) in the spring of 1999.
I took this photograph at Moscow State University on July 4th, 1997. This photograph
captures the very essence of Moscow. This is a location where wedding parties come
to have their picture taken with the city of Moscow in the background.
In the left foreground of the photograph, you see a typical tourist looking out over
Moscow. Throughout the picture you see the various wedding parties posing for pictures
or getting ready to pose. The elderly lady at center foreground represents the poignant
side of life in Moscow. Directly above her in the background is an interesting-looking
entrepeneur who reflects the more laid-back aspects of Russian culture. Along the
right side, fading into the background, one can see the vendors who are trying
to capitalize on capitalism.
This picture was taken with a Nikon N90S 35mm camera, Sigma 18-35mm zoom lens, and Fuji Provia 100 slide film. The original photo AND the Kodak PhotoCD scan of the slide are so sharp, the license plate of the car in the right background can be read.
