The history of the site of the city of Sinop, Turkey dates back to the 3rd
millenium B.C. Diogenes the Cynic lived here and is said to have "roamed the world
with his lantern searching for an honest man".
Aphrodisias was a pagan center around the time of Christ. This is the best
preserved ancient stadium in the world.
Amasya was an important center during the reign of many Pontic kings. It

5th-century monastery at Mtscheta, just outside of Tbilisi, the capital of the Republic of Georgia. Mtscheta was once the capital of Georgia itself.
Situated high on a mountain, the Sumela Monastery ceased its functioning existence in the middle of this
century. It was purportedly founded by St. Andrew who built the original cave
church behind the facade.
