When La Tati born in Madrid she already brought with her a deep and non revoked vocation. When she was six years old she took her first dancing steps in "La Quica´s Academy", a sort of Madrilenian artists "factory". At twelve years old, La Tati made her debut on the mythic stage "Zambra", where she was introduced to artists of the purest Flamenco traditions and shared a stage with them.
She also performed at the stage (tablao) "Los Canasteros" under the direction of Manolo Caracol, which at the time La Tati was his favorite dancer for "Bulerías". At the tablao "Torres Bermejas" La Tati performed with Camarón de la Isla, Niño Ricardo, Fernanda y Bernarda de Utrera, La Paquera de Jerez and other great artists. These stages counted on the regular presence of artists from Jerez: the city cradle of Flamenco and one of the most remarkable influences in La Tati´s dance style.
La Tati, one of the most outstanding Spanish Flamenco Dance Masters, has devoted her life to dance on the main Theatres all around the world and to teach Flamenco Dance, currently in Madrid (where she has created her own school, "Amor de Dios") and in several countries: US (New York, New Mexico, etc), Mexico D.F. (Teatro Bellas Artes), Canada (Toronto), Italy, France or Argentine.
La Tati´s artistic background can not be documented in a few words. These are some of the most representative Festivals, Tours and Performances she has taken part in since she was fifteen years old.
In the late eighties La Tati founded her own company, devoted to promote Flamenco art and culture:
Since the seventies, La Tati has often worked for Television in several countries such as Venezuela (Chanel 8 of Caracas), Columbia, Mexico, Australia and France (Marsella´s TV).
For Spanish television:
"Relumbre" ("Purple Light"), is a wonderful trip that represents the pureness of flamenco through its singing and rhythm roots.
Firstly we will find the "black sounds" from Andalusia, tragic and ancestral. The "black sounds", "Tona", "Martinete" and "Seguiriyas" are performed inside a forge, where in the past gypsies used to make horseshoes while they sang. To the beat of the anvil, La Tati and her troupe dance with dramatic feeling.
Secondly we listen to "Nana" (lullaby) and then we arrive to see the queen of flamenco: the "Solea".
Next we travel to the mining areas in Almeria, accompanied by several singing and dancing types from there, such as the "Tarantas" and "Cartageneras". Then we return to the beginning, in the south of Andalusia, in Cadiz to see the "Alegrias" flamenco style.
Finally we go to Jerez de la Frontera to dance for "Bulerias" style, full of life, colours and beauty.
La Tati´s "duende" (magic flamenco) and grace stays with us all the way, to guide us on this sensational route that is "Relumbre".
