La Tati

La Tati´s artistic background can not be documented in a few words. These are some of the most representative Festivals, Tours and Performances she has taken part in since she was fifteen years old.

Three consecutive years touring Europe with the company "Festival Flamenco Gitano de Liman & Rau", where she got to meet great Jazz and Flamenco artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Paco de Lucía, Camarón de la Isla, El Lebrijano, José Menese and El Güito among others.
She worked and taught at the "Ballet Nacional de España" under the direction of Antonio, and later performed as Special Guest Dancer with Luisillo´s "Teatro de la Danza", which traveled to Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
For five consecutive years she performed in Sevilla´s main stage "La Trocha" and the most important Festivals and theatres from Andalusia: "Parpuja", "Potaje", "Fiesta de la Bulería", "Cata", "Teatro José María Pemán", "Colombinas", "Teatro Lope de Vega" and "Pasando el Puente."
In 1983, La Tati visited the United States several times with a well received performance of "La Cumbre Flamenca". She also performed at the Teatro Alcalá Palace (Madrid) for two consecutive years (1984-1985).
1986: with the financial support of the Culture Ministry La Tati assembled and presented "Festival Latino" in New York´s Central Park and most of the main theatres in USA; Latino America in "Teatro Bellas Artes" (Mexico), "Teatro Teresa Carreño" (Venezuela); North Africa and Europe.

In the late eighties La Tati founded her own company, devoted to promote Flamenco art and culture:

In 1987 she made her debut in Madrid on the International Women´s Day. La Tati incorporates the violin, flute and bass as Flamenco Dancing supports for the first time in Flamenco history.
Two consecutive years in Madrid at the "Círculo de Bellas Artes" and "Veranos de la Villa".
Great success in Le Cirque d´Hiver (Paris) together with the mythic Camarón de la Isla.
1988: she assembled and presented her performance "Apología Flamenca": debuted on Sodra Theatre in Stockholm (Sweden), while touring the Scandinavian Countries. "Apología Flamenca" was the first Flamenco Company reaching Lapland (Humea, 1992).
1993: in Paris and for six consecutive weeks at the Mogador Theatre. In Brussels at the Bellas Artes Theatre. In Holland at the Vredembarg Theatre and Vrjthof Theatre in Utrech. In Niza (France) at the Casino de Niza together with the great singer Ute Lumper.
Back in Spain La Tati collaborated on the "8º Edition of the Flamenco Biennial" (Sevilla) and on the "Autumn Festival" (Madrid).
Presentation of her "Apología Flamenca" at the Teatro Nuevo Apolo (Madrid) and keeps on stage for a long season under the direction of Mr. José Tamayo.
In Mexico La Tati assembled and presented her Performance "Chambao Flamenco" at the 17th Festival Internacional Cervantino (Guanajuato), where she received the Best Performance Festival Award.
She performed the "Herejía de la Llama" at the Teatro de Madrid (Spain), El Pireo Festival and Salónica Festival (both in Greece), also at the Festival de Mastrich (Holland).
For two consecutive years La Tati collaborated as Director and Choreographer at the "International Festival Guitar" in Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem (Israel).

In 1997 she assembled and presented the show "Madrí-Jeré" at the Cultural Centre de la Villa in Madrid, receiving great critical and public success since the first play, the show still tours today.
In 1998 she was invited for the Dance Company "Campanadas Flamencas" as guest artist and choreographer. The company performed for one season at the Sanders Well Theatre in London, once again deemed a great success. La Tati was named part of the management. In October they performed at the Palau de la Música in Valencia (Spain).
In 1999 La Tati performed at the Opera House in Sidney (Australia). In Spain at the Albéniz Theatre in Madrid, for the Festival Flamenco de la Fundación de Caja Madrid; Theatre Festival in Villamarta (Jerez de la Frontera); at the Gran Teatro de Cáceres with the show "Madrí - Jeré".
La Tati gives the first performance of her new show "Relumbre, Rojo sobre Morado" in New York´s The World Financial Center at the Rockefeller Park.
Back in Spain to perform her "Madrí - Jeré" in Madrid at the Centro Cultural de la Villa.

Since the seventies, La Tati has often worked for Television in several countries such as Venezuela (Chanel 8 of Caracas), Columbia, Mexico, Australia and France (Marsella´s TV).

"Relumbre" ("Purple Light"), is a wonderful trip that represents the pureness of flamenco through its singing and rhythm roots. Firstly we will find the "black sounds" from Andalusia, tragic and ancestral. The "black sounds", "Tona", "Martinete" and "Seguiriyas" are performed inside a forge, where in the past gypsies used to make horseshoes while they sang. To the beat of the anvil, La Tati and her troupe dance with dramatic feeling.
Secondly we listen to "Nana" (lullaby) and then we arrive to see the queen of flamenco: the "Solea". Next we travel to the mining areas in Almeria, accompanied by several singing and dancing types from there, such as the "Tarantas" and "Cartageneras". Then we return to the beginning, in the south of Andalusia, in Cadiz to see the "Alegrias" flamenco style.
Finally we go to Jerez de la Frontera to dance for "Bulerias" style, full of life, colours and beauty.

La Tati´s "duende" (magic flamenco) and grace stays with us all the way, to guide us on this sensational route that is "Relumbre".
