A Sunset Romance
Interlude -- Precious Angel
By Erinn
"Let's recap on last week, ok?" Gi asked her friends Kwame and Ma-Ti, who were sitting with her on a picnic table. "I saw Linka as she read her letter."
"And we saw Wheeler when he read his letter," Kwame answered.
"The letters clearly weren't spelling things out," Gi spoke. She saw Ma-Ti's confused expression on his face. "The letters consisted of poetry and telling one another that they care. It didn't exactly or clearly say that they're each madly in love with each other. Anyway, they've been avoiding each other since."
"So what do we do now?" Ma-Ti asked.
"I believe that is where our trip to Antarctica comes in," Kwame said with a bright smile.
        "Exactly," Gi added.

"I don't know what is going on. I'm so confused," Linka confided to her best friend, Eric. He was a great friend. She could always tell her problems to him. "Hold on, Eric, I have another call coming through."
"Linka, listen to your favorite radio station, now," Greg said.
        "All right," she answered.

Don't explain
Just lay back and watch the rain
Cause darling I'm right here
And nothing's changed
Don't you know by now
I would not even know how
To keep myself from falling for you
I'll be around

Unconditional love
I'll be there when you fall
The one condition of love
Is there are none at all

Why would I
Be a fool and break these ties
When all the dreams that I believe
Are in your eyes
Don't you see at last
You don't even have to ask
I'll give you so much more
Than just a second chance

Hey, hey, hey my precious one
Hey, hey, hey my precious one

"I hope you liked the song," Greg said. "I have to go now, Linka." Greg hung up.
"Things have gotten far more complicated, Eric," she told him in almost a shocked voice, and a slight blush was starting to form on her delicate face.

That night...

Wheeler was thinking of a poem that he liked. It went:

[*
bold italic=poem, regular=narration of story*]

The moment I met your eyes
He remembered the time he saw Linka's eyes

Was the moment that I entered Heaven
And it was for him

And the moment I saw your smile
Was the moment where my heart would forever skip a beat

He never saw her smile brightly at him

And your eyes are so deep and mysterous
That everytime that I look into them
I feel really blessed--

If only he could have her

Looking deep into your deep, beautiful soul--
Being lost in your emerald- sea ocean

He had got lost in them plenty of times

And your beauty leaves me breathless
You glow so much--

She always glowed

You're my angel--
So graceful and beautiful

She walked with dignity

And when you talk
I feel a constant tingle, body and soul

God, did he love her accent!

I feel awe-struck looking at you--
Who is picture-perfect in beauty

He never saw anyone more beautiful

Could you possibly know how I feel
She might..She could

Love consumes me, body and soul--
For you--

He loved her since day one

I love you so deeply and dearly
I hope that you love me, too

Could she possibly?

Precious angel
Who drives me crazy

And boy, does she!

And who completes me, too
She does...She does complete him

"They'll get paired up in Antarctica. I can't imagine what they'll say to each other!" Gi exclaimed the day before the trip.
